Yearbook Vice President As Vice President for the yearbook, I worked alongside the Co-Editors to organize and manage a 25 minute yearbook class. This short class required that we hold planning sessions and prepare the materials ahead of time. In these meetings we worked together to understand what to improve during the next class, and what we would need to fulfill that day. In my position as an assistant to all of the Co-Editors, I must do the behind the scenes work, as in, any organization, teaching or, planning that was not done before class. We also delegated tasks to the other yearbook members, to ensure that all parts of the class would maintain and function. This position also includes listening to the yearbook staff and providing for their questions and needs. Finally, towards the end of the deadline, we take two separate Saturdays and make final edits to the pages to make the book as cohesive as …show more content…
This position requires commitment, time, and much preparation. Along with my presidency group, we plan activities for our youth group every week. This includes the supplies we need for various service activities, contacting members of our group with details, and creating a welcoming environment so that everyone who attends feels included. The most important aspect of my role as president is to assure that every girl knows they are heard and can make a difference by contributing their unique personalities. One activity I planned that embodies this vision was called, “Everyone has a seat by the Campfire.” At this activity we posed the question, “Has anyone ever felt left out? And has anyone felt the need to have someone reach out to them to feel included? By the end, our goal was to make a plan. As a group we decided that when we feel alone, make it a point to be the first one to reach out to others, because you may just make a new friend and together help each other to grow and

As a freshman during my first semester, having the presence of PLC in my life was a game changer. It was a place where I could open up about my struggles and triumphs. There are times when the girls do struggle to understand a dance move, but I will not move on until they understand. I also choreograph the dances with a bit of help from the other girls. Having the position came with many responsibilities. One thing I really focused on was bringing the chapter together with activities including: a fashion show, various contests, and a lock-in with games. Another aspect I hit on was recruitment. I organized an assembly for the middle school to briefly show them the National FFA Organization and what the chapter has done and what it can potentially do at local, state, or even national levels. I received my Greenhand and Chapter Degrees during my first two years.…

Every year I am elected to be class president. I believe the class votes for me because they know I am responsible and they trust me with the class actions. Another role of leadership I have had was being a member of the AAL (Advanced Association of Leaders). Our student counselor asked eight of us to join the association that she erected to benefit the attitude in our school. Mrs. Hessling chose us because we were the role models for the younger kids and examples for our peers.…

Throughout the presidential project, the lack of preparation led to the downfall of my campaign. You see at the beginning I believed I had a strong committee, individuals who would put in the work, but it turns out being one of the smartest people in the class you get bombarded with people looking for an easy A. I should definitely have chosen my group better, that way I wouldn’t have been left alone to work on the project. This is something I have started to work on, no longer do I have a problem letting individuals crash and burn in my group, I do my set jobs and they're expected to do the same. Looking at the content I chose I believe I could have focused on differing topics, given my audience is a normal set of high school students,…

Once the school year has started, you and your peers will decide on how you all want the yearbook cover to look like, to assigning staff roles, to meeting yearbook deadlines. I know that sounds like a lot of work and you will feel lazy doing it, because I was exactly the same. I found that even though I was sceptical at first of how much I would excell it this role, I found myself really enjoying myself discovering new tools and creating different slide with themes such as the Haramball slide informing students about intramural handball in the large gym or creating an eye catching pep rally slideshow hoping to boost school spirit and reminding students to check out our cool new spirit wear hoping to raise sales. I have also been contributing to other aspects of the yearbook while GTV is steady. I was able to help resolve our theme issue giving a strong argument on why our Dr. Seuss theme would be easy to execute. I worked closely with our Editors Jordann and Michaela at the beginning of the semester to create our ladder, I played a key role in organizing the sports section of the ladder, Jordann trusted me to balance out the sports in different seasons as well as making sure we had a good balance and flow throughout the sports section on our ladder. I have helped organize and distribute yearbooks both during lunch as well as during my MSIP and spare periods.…

About half way through the activity I had a simple realization, that this activity wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Being one of the last inquiry cores to do this benchmarking activity, I had heard stories from other people that the activity would be very stressful as there would be power struggles and poor time management. However, during that moment of realization, everyone in my group knew what they were doing and was comfortable doing it so it was quite the opposite of stressful. I started to wonder why we were working so well together, despite the amount of work shoved at us, expected to be finished in a short time frame. I came to the conclusion that one of the things we did very well was communicate with each other.…
