The cliché storyline of a good girl falls for mysterious bad boy plays hard in this book. Undercover tones of submission hide in the book, yet the biggest one is wrapped in bows and romanticized—her submission. The nonexistence of Bella’s desire for abstinence is strong throughout the book, however, Bella is the female, therefore, the submissive character. Myers depicts Bella loving the dominance Edward holds over her especially when they finally have sex. This is not a bad image but more so leads to an underlining problematic question. Why is it in yet not only pertained to dark creature fictional stories virgins are perceived as pure, emotional, physically erotic beings, in need of being controlled.Why is the main submissive majorly feminine characters?This image that Myers and others romanticized is precarious for the audience who reads the books. The illustration of the male being the "dominant" sex especially during intercourse is false, females are not solely submissive
