I think that year-round schooling is a great idea we would have more vacation, more time to do school work, and know more. Also we still would have summer break just not a long three months. This is better because it is less stress and it is better for students who do no activities during the summer. I think that year-round schooling would be a great idea. The first reason for year-round schooling is that students will not forget what was learned. Studies show that 27 percent of things learned during the school year is forgotten during the summer, says Matthew Lynch. Therefore, if three months is broken down then we will not forget anything. Schools in America will spend up to 30% of their budget to provide transportation for their students. In the long run, this money could be put to better use by paying teachers a better salary. However, a year-round calendar would provide students with more learning opportunities, and would not have to catch up on work. Students that are dedicated at having a good education and excel in school wouldn't mind having school year round. With a year long calendar, students wouldn't forget everything they learned the previous year, and wouldn't have to review once they get back from vacation.…

The Benefits Year-Round Schooling Since the beginning of time, teaching and learning has been a detrimental part of what makes us able to innovate and experience the world around us. A form of schooling introduced in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s was a year round school system (Pedersen, "The History of School and Summer Vacation"). This system allowed for more days within the learning period and allotted for students to get more out of their education. Research from all the way back to a hundred years ago has shown that students tend to lose information and their footing during a traditional summer vacation (Fairchild, "Why and how communities should focus on summer learning."). The current system most public schools within the…

So, no I don’t agree with year-round schooling. My number one reason is because Kids work in the summer and they make their money weekly. They can’t do if we have year-round schooling because they will not make the money they make in the summer in that three weeks we have off for break. I myself would much rather make money during the whole summer not just three…

According to the “On Summer Loss” (n.d.), there are certain cases of retention loss that are dependent upon grade level and subject matters where students can lose up to two years of their education, and that is just in their first five years of instruction (“On,” n.d.). School officials are trying desperately to find solutions to this problem, and they believe that year-round education may be one of them. Year-round education will allow less times for students to forget curriculum, for there would be smaller periods of no instruction. Weaver (1992) comes to say that “The most popular YRE [year-round education] calendar is the 45-15 plan, where students attend school for 45 days and then go on vacation for 15 (para. 3). This is a very reasonable schedule because these fifteen day breaks can occur on any holiday or religious event that schools may need to set aside for families to participate in, and these breaks will also give students time to clear their head and relieve all the stress they had built up.…

Children benefit from year round school because they are not in a hurry to cram everything they need to know for that year in just short nine to ten months. Teachers can slow their speed and actually teach students everything they need to know not just what they need for a test, which seems to be regular in many schools. Students will not forget the education that was taught, for they will not have summer vacation time to forget about school and what they learned from it. Cooper had done experiments on children loosing education while on summer break and his results are stunning, and cooper commented that “most students lose about two months of grade level equivalency in mathematical computation skills over the summer months”…
