To grow means to change yourself positively as a person. Using your mistakes to help you grow is very important and helps with success. Everybody makes mistakes, but if you don’t grow from them, then you are not fixing them and using them to help you. The goals I would set for myself are to get into honors classes in high school and get into a good college. Doing well in school has always been a priority of mine, and it is and always has been something that I work very hard to achieve. In order to achieve these goals, I have to be motivated, I have to work hard, and I have to be persistent. Success is not just going to come to me; there are many steps and traits that go into achieving my goals. If I am not motivated, I will not be driven enough to succeed. If I do not work hard, I will not be able to achieve my goals. My goals are not going to reach themselves- so I have to work hard. If I am not persistent, I will never be determined enough to keep going when I am unsuccessful. I am not always going to succeed on my first time; I have to be persistent and try again each time I fail. In school, I always strive to be my best. I know that how well I do in school will affect my future, so I work very hard to be successful and get good grades. Hobbies outside of school can help you grow as well. Rather than being good at only your academics, other extra-curricular activities can help you grow into a more versatile student and

I decided to attend Florida A&M University (FAMU) for a variety of reasons, including the location of its campus, because I was offered a full scholarship, and of course, because of the pharmacy program. Moreover, I believe that I am the ideal candidate for being a part of FAMU’s pharmacy program. To begin, FAMU is located in Tallahassee, Florida, a city that I had wanted to attend college in since I was in elementary school. Tallahassee is a city of containing and surrounded by many events and opportunities, so no matter your preferred “scene,” you are likely to be able to find something you do. Another upside to FAMU’s location is that it also places me very close to my mother and the rest of my maternal family, who I had previously not gotten to see almost since elementary school.…

Now I’m a senior in high school with no full ride scholarship even though throughout high school I kept my grades up and I even played basketball in hope of a scout would come to my small charter school and discover my talent but that didn’t happen either.…

Today, we get to celebrate the culmination of our thirteen years of hard work in school with graduation, and I have been asked to deliver this year’s commencement speech. I would like to thank all of the people that have brought us here: family members, teachers, principals, and people who would go out of their way to encourage us to keep trying hard even in the midst of failure. Without you, we would not be standing on this stage today. I would like to start by defining the word “commencement.”…
