Yankee Candle is the best loved and largest candle company in the world. This famous candle brand earned its reputation in high quality and fine fragrance candles making for over 40 years. It all took place on Christmas in 1969, when sixteen-year-old Mike Kittredge did not have enough money to buy his mom a Christmas present, so used some old red crayons, canning wax, kitchen string, and a milk carton to make his mom a candle (“The Yankee Candle Story”). A neighbor saw it and convinced Mike to sell the candle to her. With that money, he bought enough wax to make two candles—one for his mom, and another to sell. After that, he began to design and handcraft candle’s in his family’s kitchen and sell them to friends and neighbors who enjoyed and …show more content…
In fact, around eighty percent of its customers are women, and those women tend to be “between 30-50 years old, mostly suburban, who have families and are homeowners”(“America's Burning Love for Scented Candles”). Therefore, the brand works hard to give their customers the highest quality candles. However, Yankee Candle is not the only leading brand in candle sales. Bath and Body Works have become increasingly popular amongst candle fans as well. Bath and Body Works was founded in 1990 in New Albany, Ohio and has since expanded across the United States and a few other countries. It specializes in shower gels, lotions, fragrance mists, perfumes, candles, and home fragrances (“Bath”). Bath and Body works fans argue that Yankee Candles are more expensive and do not have a strong scents in their candles as much as the Bath and Body Works candles do. Though Yankee Candles tend to be more expensive than other brands, most customers never pay full price. Wise customers patiently wait for sale outlets to arrive where you can usually buy candles for a third of what it is originally worth. Yankee’s large candles tend to be approximately $10 each and they hold more 3x more wax than the $10 large candles that are on sale in Bath and Body Works. Meaning, Yankee Candles have a greater burn span of approximately 100-110 hours while those from Bath and Body Works tend to only last around 25-30 hours. The Bath and Body Works candles also tend repackage the same scents over and over with a different name or a different collection. Most candles fans are usually disappointed by the way Bath and Body Works does not work hard enough to create new unique fragrances. On the other hand, in a variety of 150 fragrances that come in a variety of strength scents depending on which type of candle you buy. The candles Yankee sells also come in many shapes and sizes with affordable prices during sales season and they would

It is common knowledge that this continent was officially discovered (by the modern world) in year 1492 by Christopher Columbus, an Italian navigator and explorer. The discovery of a new world between Europe and Asia, unknown up to that time, led to massive exploration and colonization by countries such as Spain and other European sea powers. This event is often described as the start of the modern era.…
