It was invented in 1979 by Judith R. Faulkner and in YNHH it was implemented in the year 2010.Epic is considered as an effective tool in IT healthcare prospective, my words towards the strategies of Yale New Heaven Health is adopting a system where to provide best breed of technology to the patients by using wide variety of applications. The physicians are the one who continuously involved where they act as the advisors to the organization major priority is given to the physicians and they have a committee to discuss on various topics like patients outcomes and EHR of the patients.
Epic have placed some of the analysts to monitor each departments and it also include some specialists who advice the organization so that organization can work collaboratively and effectively, Vision of Epic-
The vision for implementing EPIC is to adapt EMR to meet the business and clinical functions of the healthcare system. The business functions include registration, scheduling and billing whereas the clinical functions includes quality of care, clinical documentation, clinical work flow, patient experiences and regulatory compliance.
