Yahwism also known as Jahwism, Yahvism and Jahvism is the worship of the god Yahweh and one of the cultures that worshipped Yahweh were the Israelites, who chose Yahweh to be their national god. In the opinions of historian, H. Guthe who specializes in the Semitic history of the Near East, Yahweh was worshipped by a nomadic tribe called the Kenites who were one of several tribes originally from Midian, but lived throughout the southern part of the Levant which included Canaan, Edom and the northern part of the Sinai Peninsula. The first mention in the Old Testament of the Kenites can be found, in Genesis 15:19-21, when Abraham traveled to Canaan, around 1700BC.
