Yaasland Community Development Plan

Community development in my opinion is a process of identifying issues the community is facing and building on the assets and strengths the community have with the members of the community to enhance their lives and others. Yaasland community plan will be based on Brown and Hannis’s ten step process of community development which are defining your role, researching the community, entering the community, consciousness raising, need and assets assessment, setting goals, organization building, strategizing, taking action and evaluation to resolve the challenges such as unemployment and violence among the youths that the community is facing.
In the first place, I will like to build good relationship “with those who are actively involved in the community” (Brown and Hannis, 2012, p. 71). Having my intention for the community in mind, I will be observing their interactions and communications. I believe my observation and relationship building will help me to find

The qualitative research will help the community to know “the experiences of the youths who have been involved in crime to find out about their circumstances, concerns, and ideas for making things better” (Brown and Hannis, 2012, p.82). The quantitative research will help the community to know the “specificity of results and precise measurements” (Brown and Hannis, 2012, p. 82). This will help to know whether the crime rate is going up or down. The time, cost and technical assistance required to do the assessment has been provided. Even though the time is limited, I think it is doable. In the youth violence, and crime rate, we want to compare the crème and violence rate in summer and winter months. There is funding to train and involve local youths as well as some seniors to help out and the various agencies in the community will take care of the questionnaires development and share their data with the
