As opposed to being appointed by a monarch or the legislative branch, the chief executive should be chosen by popular vote. Although Turkey’s chief executive is chosen by the prime minister, we don’t feel this would be beneficial to Xlandia. Xlandia has a relatively small population, so we feel that they should be involved in selecting their president. After not having a government for so long, the citizens of Xlandia will have to learn to gain trust in their new government. Keeping Xlandia’s best interests in mind, we think that the executive role should be played by one executive as opposed to two executives. We think that Xlandia should enforce a presidential system, similar to that in the United States but unlike Turkey. A presidential system allows the citizens to give feedback on the government as well as being able to impeach the president if necessary. Previously Xlandia was under the rule of a dictatorship. The citizens were therefore unable to have a say in their laws or have their choice of executive. Therefore, a presidential system must be established to ensure that the country has the citizens’ best interests in mind. The president should be able to veto laws as well as suggest them to the congress. However the laws should only be able to be passed if they are both signed by the president and agreed upon by the congress. In only a presidential …show more content…
Two choices you have are to create either a unitarian or bicameral system in the legislative branch. A bicameral legislature is not the best choice for Xlandia, because your current population is small. A bicameral system involves two chambers who pass laws. Two houses passing the law would not be necessary because of the population size. In a bicameral system the laws won’t be past as efficiently or quickly as they would in a unicameral system. A unicameral system would serve the best for Xlandia. The legislature would only have one house and only pass laws from one chamber. The citizens of Xlandia will once again have the opportunity to vote for the members of the legislature which in this case would be a unicameral system. The citizens would only have the need to vote for one house of representatives, as opposed to representatives of many states or regions, which don’t apply to your country. As representatives of Turkey, one of the aspects of our government we are most proud of is our unicameral system. We are confident this system will benefit Xlandia as much as it has benefited us. Other countries like the U.S. follows a federal system which divides the congress into a senate and House of Representatives. But, we feel one house would be most efficient and beneficial for your new government system. A unicameral system passes laws faster and has more accountability since there is no opposing
