Also Xena has a sidekick that helps her fight against the kings, warlords, and Gods. Her sidekicks name is Gabrielle and she is an Amazon princess/Queen. She is trained to fight with a staff, sword, and Sai. She also know how to use the chakram. Xena also showed Gabrielle how to use pressure points when she fights. Xena and Gabrielle is known to use the “pinch” which is a pressure point that cuts the blood flow from the brain. Buffy has no problem fighting the vampires and demons, but she has one weakness and that is she fell in love with a vampire and when it came to the time to kill him she could not do it. She could not do it because she loved him too much, so she sent him to LA. She sent him there so no one can hurt him, because most vampires want him dead. Demons were all scared of the Slayer ever creature of the night is scared of her because of her title the Slayer. While Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an excellent warrior, no one can defeat superiority and complexity of Xena Warrior Princess. That is because she has more abilities than Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Xena did the one thing that no one could ever do and that was killing the Gods because they wanted to kill her daughter, they learned their lesson never mess with a mamma and her cub this is why I think Xena is the better

Stefan Babich in his article, “The Fall of The Female Protagonist in Kids’ Movies” writes about the idea of a female protagonist dying in the “animation war” (n. pag.). He writes about how in recent days animation movies do not have a female protagonist who isn’t the cookie cutter princess. This is very similar to the view in Amanda Marcotte’s article titled, “The Shocking Radicalism of ‘Brave’” where she talks about how “Brave” is a movie that seemed to try to fall out of the algorithm but eventually is from the same mold of movies that the Disney movies come from (Marcotte n. pag.). Although both Babich and Marcotte have similar views on the topic, Marcotte’s article seems to focus on women 's role in society (which does account for a…

William Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Bram Stoker’s Dracula were written three centuries apart in vastly different social climates. Macbeth was born from the beginning the English renaissance, as King James took the throne after the long reign of “The Virgin Queen,” Elizabeth I.. Dracula was written during the tail end of the Victorian era, a time of rampant social anxiety and unrest stemming from the Industrial Revolution and new ideological movements such as women’s suffrage. Despite the differing circumstances of their writing, Macbeth and Dracula exhibit many commonalities: both utilize dramatic, old buildings as their primary settings to create an uneasy atmosphere, both rely on leaving the state of reality ambiguous to create tension , and both have active female characters who reveal period gender norms of their respective social climates,…

Juliet and Juliet (Romeo Really Doesn’t Matter) Traditionally, it has always been true that the male lead in any form of entertainment, may it be a book, movie or play, has held the most important position, regardless as to whether or not there are dual protagonists featuring a man and a woman. Now, this was truer in the past than it is in the present where the female leads have been elevated in stature and significance comparable to that of their co-lead male actor. Hermione Granger, Katniss Everdeen and Diana Bishop have held a significant role in their respective books and movies. Their characters are strong in their morals, skills and power.…

A superhero, male or female, is someone who chooses to protect the world from any danger it may face. Why then does society view a male superhero as fulfilling his destiny and a female superhero as defying expectations? Gloria Steinem, an American feminist and activist, discusses in her essay, “Wonder Woman,” that the introduction of a female superhero in media brought about an empowerment in women in a time when she was needed the most. Wonder Woman was a heroine in the making, but not without facing and overcoming objectification and limitations instituted by governing bodies or individuals. Similarly, Julie D. O’Reilly, an Associate Professor of Communication and Women's and Gender Studies, analysis in her article, “The Wonder Woman Precedent:…
