NADC (contractor) notified Xcel Energy that an EDI (contractor) employee fell approximately six to eight feet while descending a scaffold ladder when his fall protection lanyard got tangled up with his foot causing him to lose his balance and fall. The employee inadvertently hit his right ribs on a small concrete berm causing him to require offsite emergency services. The employee was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and was later released without restrictions or a prescription from the hospital. A stand down will take place in order to educate employees in the proper storage of their lanyards while ascending and descending a
