The Xbox KFC Moldy Shoe Pit I have not been a college student for long, but the entire atmosphere fascinates me. Living on campus thrills me housing students of all ages and cultures living together under one banner in one huge campus. It amazes me how much destruction a college can go through in a year and still welcome freshman in the fall. Housing accommodations can either make or break your freshman year and moving into the perfect place is precisely what I imagined. My first day on campus was full of excitement and anxiety. As I opened the door to an unknown world a blank canvas filled my head with thoughts both big and small. The room I entered was a hollow shell filled with possibility and a slight stench of its last occupants. As others joined me filling the room with appliances, gaming devices and home emanates this would soon be a place we call home. As I tossed and turned in bed the sound of the air conditioner kicked on humming its deep growl while small glimmering lights of the smoke detector shine in the room almost …show more content…
After a month of being on campus the touch of scratchy bed spreads and blankest become part of normality. Trying to keep the bed clean was pointless because after one class I would go back to sleep ripping up all the covers. Looking across the room, I noticed chest and trunks filled with foods of every kind including chewy sour patch kids and salty microwave popcorn yet not one contained nutritional value. As I finished off the last bag of candy I began to hear my stomach growl, but time passed and the sickness and sounds subsided. Living on campus has been an adventure and the next four years will be the best time of my life. Opening the door to the Xbox KFC Moldy Shoe Pit never stops surprising me. The sights, sounds, tastes and noises are of ones that can only be found here at Bryant

Room 0742 is a studio design room located in king pavilion at the Iowa State University college of design. In a way it represents the beginning of my journey at Iowa State, for it is the first class room I had ever been in as a student, and its represents hours and hours of hard work and dedication to my major. It is a rather bittersweet place with times where it became a place to put my work on display as well as a place to spend many long nights and very early mornings working and developing. The space itself physically is not a room by traditional means it has no doors and stall like walls that rise above the ground six to eight inches as well as an opening at the top.…

Each of these aspects would be shaken drastically to that of what they had known before enduring their college experience. The first commonly overlook was sickness. Paces’ book informs his readers about illness in the collegiate world when he proclaims, “…illness and epidemics plays a major role in the college environment and how students reacted to it… Illness forced many to grow up—perhaps before they were ready. Illness brought to students a sense of their morality.”…

My first memory at North Carolina Governor’s School West is of crying next to my parents on a bench under a giant tree. It was move-in day for the five-and-a-half-week session, and I was already sure that they would be the worst weeks of my life. I was terrified; I knew no one except two students from my high school, who were rising juniors and to whom I had never spoken before. After that stressful first day, I fell asleep unsure of how I could make it on my own in a place filled with such talented, intelligent, and unfamiliar people. A week later, I knew that Governor’s School would be one of the most treasured experiences of my entire life.…

The blacker the college, sweeter the knowledge. As kids, we see shows and movies such as A Different World and School Daze then imagine attending an HBCU being fun and adventurous. Not realizing and understanding the essence of having a place in the world where you can relate with people of different shades of melanin and personalities. The mission of an Historically Black College or University is to give blacks the opportunity of higher learning and allow them to graduate with multiple job lineups. From my perspective, an HBCU should make you feel more welcome than a PWI would, make you feel wanted and appreciated.…

Reluctantly stumbling through a sea of all different walks of life, I tightly held on to my clunky lunch box as it bumped into every new face I passed. I scrambled around the intimidatingly large campus of Cypress Bay High School searching for my classroom. “Excuse me, do you happen to know where the 300’s building is?” I asked in a shaken voice, but no one seemed to hear me. It was as if everyone spoke a different language that I did not understand.…

It feels as if any freshman can come onto this campus, and adapt themselves within the first few minutes of being here. It's everything I wanted when I pictured living on a college campus.…

As a first time student attending Spokane Falls Community College, I honestly thought that the only buildings and areas of campus involving my class schedule would be of importance. Little did I know that one room I would encounter would become my safe haven. I remember the first day stepping out onto campus and all I saw was a giant riddle waiting to be solved so many parking spaces, buildings, rooms, classes, and students. The anticipation bubbling up inside of me was exciting and rooted with a little nervousness. I was searching for place to keep me focused on my goal of being a successful student, a place to refresh between rigorous lectures.…

It had been a few weeks since your parents died in a tragic plane crash, though you didn’t feel all that sad. Of course, you were slightly upset, but it wasn’t that bad. Your parents had never really built an emotional bond with you. They were more like dictators, they forced you to be the three P’s: posh, proper, and polite. When you wanted to play outside with the other kids, they shook their head in distaste, your mother telling you that’s not what ladies do.…

I think that smaller colleges are better because there are less people and they could have your profession that you want to do in colleges and the professor might be able to help you if you need it.. It is better for me because there are less students and i could get a lot of help if i need it and I don’t like being around large groups of people and people would talk out as much in larger colleges and smaller ones there is much less noise. The smaller colleges are more for me because I don’t do good around large crowds of people and I do better when there is a lot less people and if the professor help me with some stuff that I am not understanding if I don’t get it and the professor would know me because there is not a large amount of people.…
