I first started looking for a summer internship during the spring 2015 school semester. I used various outlets and applied to many jobs in Long Island, NY and in Albany, NY. I found that using career websites, such as CareerSaint or Indeed.com, did not result in me finding much because I would send out my resume, and not really know who my resume went to so I could not follow up with the company if I wanted to. So, I started researching online, mainly using search engines such as Google.com, companies that I thought would be a good fit for me. My major is Actuarial Science, however I am still looking at working in different areas in business in order to find something that I really enjoy doing and can see myself doing as a career for the rest of my life. I interviewed mostly at companies in Albany, including at Farm Family in Glenmont, NY which I interviewed at multiple times for the same position. Then, I interviewed at Senior Healthcare while I was home on Long Island over Easter break. I interviewed with John Reardon, and he explained to me what he was looking for in an intern for the summer. The thing I liked about the way John interviewed me was that it was not the typical interview questions that other employers pose in the first interview like “What’s your biggest weakness” in which a prepared answer is given to the employer. John told me that one of the main purposes for me to get a job with his company would be to “learn the ins and outs of business”. I really liked how the original interview I had with John did not have a wall up between the employer and the employee like I had experienced in the other interviews I went on for a summer internship. I also liked that John made it clear from the beginning that although I would be working for him, he also intended for me to get something out of the
