In my first semester of going back to college, after having been out for over ten years, I took Business English, taught by, May Daniel. This class was a long-distance learning class and started at 4:30 and ended at 5:50 p.m. Mrs. Daniel, told us about our assignments on the first day and one of them was a portfolio project that would be due on the last days of the semester. This assignment included making a resume, a cover letter, a recommendation letter, a cover sheet and a report giving details about the career we are hoping to achieve after graduations and then we had to make it into a PowerPoint presentation to present to the class. We would have to work on some of it in class getting other students to give us constructive feedback. Sending some students in the class into a frenzy about whether their resume was good enough or if there were enough details on their PowerPoint presentations. We were advised to do research on the history of our chosen careers and the earning potential. I had done research before even going back to school about the earning potential and the places that would want someone with this kind of degree. I was very surprised to learn that some did not they just jumped right in not knowing, any of those, in my mind vitally important things. With the research, I earned an even greater respect for those who earn their degree in Legal Assistant. I learned how the position came about, which is because lawyers were too expensive and the common people could not afford one when legal problems came about. With the Legal Assistant or Paralegal in office to meet with a client it was more affordable, it also made it easier on the Lawyers, not having to do everything on their
