XYZ Rehab., is a small sized rehabilitation company, with approximately 500 employees, that provides talent, information and support to rehabilitation departments in various hospitals and convalescent home. XYZ Rehab Inc. manages rehabilitation aspect of patient care, marketing, strategic planning, output measurements and related reimbursements. As PT, my duties include towards management of clinical services provided by physical therapy assistants and as well as working as second to director of rehabilitation in managing resources and human resources so that resources are optimized and best rehab care is provided to client. Medicare and state laws require that any new patient is to be evaluated by registered PT and a plan of care to be formed by PT describing various treatment approaches to be use in a particular manner. The laws reflects top-down management style, known as autocratic leadership approach. In this particular approach, top management or supervisors reach independent conclusions and implementing those policies without giving lower member in the chain any authority to change them. In corporate world, top-down approach is considered to have certain advantage and is considered to be safer. Comparatively, I believe GOAL SETTING THEORY gives space for more human interaction and discussion. This style allows an individual to develop their own working idea and work process based on seed and target provided by
