Liz sat in her study, throwing pencils around and sighing as she looked at the wrinkles on her hands. "Vale had a module to extend his life, didn't he?" She then jumped straight into a standing pose and smirked, before grabbing blueprint paper from X-13's Lab. Quickly she roughly drew a square, and quickly drew notes around it, stating; 'Square design, uses tubes to send reinvigorating liquids through the veins, probably painful to insert, you need to replace your arm with metal to use it.' She winced, thinking of the pain she would be inflicting upon herself to prolong her life, She continued to draw, and began to think of the liquids she would use to enact the modules work. Perhaps Regenerator fluids, she had thought, checking that as a fluid …show more content…
She placed down a sheet of metal and cut it so that it fit into a slot on her cybernetic arm. She then got plastic from the resources she had been given by the little Tsujin boy, and began welding small tubes of plastic into the module, and filled them with the fluid from the regenerator. She then began work on the HCTO. Putting together the wires in a plastic box, with an off and on switch. She then began work on the robotic arm, taking direct measurement of her own left, dominant arm. She then began work on the fingers after having the two segments of her arm created. Measuring all five, and creating metal replicas. She then created the elbow, and jointed and welded the segments together, moving them by contracting and extending the joints with her hands. She then sighed, knowing what was to come next. She would have to amputate her own arm, and replace it with the metal cybernetic pieces. Standing outside of the tower, she pointed at her left arm with her right, and fired full force, vaporizing it within seconds. The wound cauterized instantly, but she fell out of the world of consciousness, and blacked out from shock. Hours later, she woke up, and stood, her vision shaking. She was alive, but barely. Liz stumbled into the Lab, and began to frantically shove the electronic nerves into her arm, connecting them sloppily but sufficiently.

James Edward Hanger was hit in the leg by a cannonball just two days after enlisting and had to have that leg amputated. He created the first prosthetic limb for himself when he returned home from the war, and after the war ended, he received the U.S. patent for his invention. This artificial leg was able to bend at the knee and the ankle as opposed to the peg leg he was provided with after his amputations. Although he had originally only created the limb for himself, it lead to an important part of many peoples lives today. Prosthetics are life changing for many war veterans, as they allow for mobility and independence for those who would not otherwise have it.…

On Monday night about 8 o'clock, I reached the guard, about 100 people passed it and went towards the custom house where the king's money is lodged. They immediately surrounded the sentry posted there, and with clubs and other weapons threatened to execute their vengeance on him. I was soon informed by a townsman their intention was to carry off the soldier from his post and murder him. I immediately sent a non-commissioned officer and 12 men to protect both the sentry and the king's money, and very soon followed myself to prevent, if possible, all disorder. Nay, so far was I from intending the death of any person that I suffered the troops to go to the spot where the unhappy affair took place without any loading in their pieces; nor did I ever give orders for loading them.…

The long, peculiar note of a bugle sounded, borne to us on the raw morning air to interrupt our conversation. It rose with a low, clear, warble, and seemed to float in the gray sky like the note of a lark. As it died away, I perceived that the atmosphere had changed; despite the equilibrium established by the storm, it was dynamic. The men thrust forward their heads, expanded their eyes and clenched their teeth. They breathed arduously, as though strangled by yanking at the leash.…

New materials and plastics have allowed prostheses to become more durable, lighter and stronger, so that the amount of energy needed to operate the artificial limb is limited. These materials have also created a more realistic look for the prostheses. As a result, the patients feel more comfortable in their own skin, and do not feel the need to hide their artificial limb. In addition to the variety of new materials, technology and electronics have become very useful in improving the construction of prosthetics. Computers do not only help with the manufacture and design of these new devices, but they also assist in revolutionizing all manner of prostheses also.…

yesterday we landed at gallipoli, as we rounded the crest of the peninsula a sense of fear descended upon us. Thus fear turned into outright terror as we came closer to the shore and saw the steep slopes and towering hillside that was before us. Jack reckons we landed in the wrong place and i must say i somewhat agree, only a fool would plan an attack up such a steep incline with the enemy towering above us, and the british empire is no fool. as the order was given the men launched themselves off the boat sinking like stones under the weight of the artillery they carried. as a young boy, the times spent swimming in the lagoon were some of the best of my life and i held onto this memory as i plunged into the icy depths and waded towards the…
