Among these were the Italian fascism in the 1920s, Japanese militarism and invasions of China in the 1930s, and especially the political takeover in 1933 of Germany by Hitler and his Nazi Party and its aggressive foreign policy.
Some people experienced small changes in their day-to-day life, while other people’s lives changed completely. For example, Allies’ teachers and students couldn’t go to school during the war because of the threat of bomb raids was too dangerous. Many people had to move from their suburban homes to the countryside. During this time in Britain, all children and parents of all ages had to take gas masks everywhere they went because of all the potential gas bombs that could be dropped by air raid.
Finally, World War 2 ended with the unconditional surrender of the Axis powers. On May 8, 1945, the Allies accepted Germany's surrender, about a week after Adolf Hitler had committed suicide. 28 million civilians died from diseases and famine. 80 million people died in World War 2 and 41 million people survived. The war ended on September 2, 1945. On May 7, 1945, Germany officially surrendered to the Allies, bringing an end to the European conflict in World War II.
