The trenches were horrible when it came to the hygiene of it. It had the rotten smell of decaying men and feces from the soldier's. The smell of the human feces brought all the rodents and the maggots to the trenches. The people in the trenches had no way to clean themselves from all the grime in the trenches that collected on their bodies. A disease called, "Trench Fever" came up during the war it was not deadly. This fever came up because of the horrible hygiene of the men in the trenches. Trench foot also came up because of the hygiene of the men. Trench foot is when your entire foot, toes, or just part of your foot becomes numb, inflamed, and it becomes gray. Trench foot happens when your feet do not get a lot of blood because the blood is trying to keep you warm. The people in the trenches did not have the ability to shower and clean all of the wounds so they will most likely become infected.
