Discuss the importance of technological advancements to the two 20th century wars, each from a different region. Technological advancements had major impact on the outcome of the first world war in Europe and world War II in the Pacific. Europe saw new technologies be introduced to the battlefield between 1914 and 1918 such as aircraft, land-used mainly weapons or battleships, while the US saw improvements in those technologies and some new advancements. The 20th century wars saw great inventions that shaped the outcome of the war, but are not the main factor that decided the fate of Europe despite their major impact. It shaped the outcome of the war when it asserted dominance of the North sea during the Battle of Jutland in 1945 with Germany. War on land for the first time saw tanks and heavy machinery that were both used in important battles such as those in Yvres or Verdun. These battles are examples of some that decided the fate of Europe and the technologies used there contributed to the outcome. World War Two in the Pacific also saw improved technologies that contributed to the outcome of the war. War in the air saw major improvements in aircraft. with improved precision, maximum speed and distance the planes can cover. For example, B-17's were tactical bombers that came to use during American attacks on shipping and airfields. The P-51's by the end of the war were one of the fastest fighter planes built of the time and escorted the B-17's in order for the mission to be successful and have superiority in the air by the US. During the war, battleships and other navy technologies were also introduced that contributed to the outcome of the war.
