Max GladeCS228 Written ReportFor my final project I decided to expand my KNN-Learner to be able to recognizemovement and gestures that occur over time. I started off working with the ASLalphabet but came to the conclusion that not many signs are dynamic, so I trained myKNN classifier to recognize RSTC (Recreational Scuba Training Council) hand signalswhich mostly require hand movement. On top of requiring the ability to track movementthe KNN classifier and my code needed to be able to handle input from two hands. In order to track movement, each gesture had to be recorded over multipleframes. Just tracking the data points alone turned out to not be enough information forthe KNN learner to accurately classify gestures. Instead I created a second …show more content…
First, Ihad to expand my gesture data array to accommodate for data points from up to twohands and make sure the data was stored properly. Next, I had to create anothergesture data structure to store movement data, and fill this new array with the correctdata. In order to calculate the change in position efficiently, I stored the previous dataframe captured from the Leap Motion and sent it to the next call to capture the frameupdate. From there it was just simple subtraction and placement in the movement dataarray. At this step I also draw lines in the pygame window to help visualize how eachdata point is moving. From here the movement data needed to be reshaped and resizedfor efficiency. I only kept data about the fingertips and and the tips of the pinkymetacarpals and index metacarpals. Most moving gestures with regard to this set onlyrequire information about finger tips and the rotation of the hand, so all other data pointsare pretty redundant. From there it was off to the classifier. Movement data was brokenup into blocks of 30 frames. For gestures involving movement is used 30 frames of datato be sent to the KNN predictor. If the normal positional KNN predictor could notestablish a correct prediction within 30 frames, the positional predictor would be used. After every call to the KNN predictor I have the game loop sleep for a few millisecondsto allow the Predictor to catch up, along with

He had control of both hands throughout the task and, had completed the tapping in about 11.3 seconds. It was noted that, while tapping with his dominant hand, at approximately tap 14, the forefinger on his left hand began to also slightly tap. However, it ceased quickly and, was slight enough to be considered insignificant. This was not mirrored by his right hand while tapping with his left. This suggests a strong ability to isolate tasks and attend without succumbing to either visual or cognitive distractions.…

Psychology Lab Research Question: Why do older adults show a decrease on postural control? Hypothesis: Older adults with decreased knee or ankle threshold joint position sensation would show decreased postural control. • Threshold joint position is a test of sensory sensitivity used to quantify each subject’s proprioceptive abilities Methods: • 22 women and men, 70 yoa or older • all subjects had threshold joint position testing at ankle (plantar and dorsiflexion) and knee joints (flexion and extension) - Subjects were told to press a stop button the moment they detected movement in the joint - performance was measured in degree of joint rotation that occurred prior to their sensing movement - This data was used to categorize subjects…

Hand Gesture Authentication: Biometric authentication has the main goal of identifying a user and providing access based on some unique physical characteristic. This is traditionally done by analyzing a person's fingerprint, palm, eye, or even face structure. However a new way of biometric authentication is under development, and may be more accessible than other forms, authentication through hand gestures. The user is identified by the shape and curvature of the hand, hand posture, and the actual sign being produced by the user's hand (Fong, Zhuang, Fister, Fister Jr, 2013). This form of biometric authentication can be much more complex than one would think, through all the different aspects that can be analyzed.…

Golfer's Elbow With Rehab Golfer’s elbow, also called medial epicondylitis, is a condition that results from inflammation of the strong bands of tissue that attach your forearm muscles to the inside of your bone at the elbow (tendons). These tendons affect the muscles that bend the palm toward the wrist (flexion). This condition is called golfer's elbow because it is more common among people who constantly bend and twist their wrists, such as golfers. This injury usually results from overuse. Tendons also become less flexible with age.…

For this combination, I recognized that I was able to learn the entire phrase without having to rely on others, so I finally achieved a previous goal of mine from my last synthesis paper. My goal was to be able to perform based off of my own confidence. From the beginning of class until now, I was really reluctant in trying to do the movement because I forgot that movement looks different in everyone else’s bodies, so I was busy trying to match other people, which probably slowed me down from being able to perform the movements. I was able to recall the differences in every individual when I sat out a few days ago. I was able to analyze and watch every student move in class, which allowed me to realize that I was putting too much pressure on…
