“Good writing does not succeed or fail on the strength of its ability to persuade. It succeeds or fails on the strength of its ability to engage you, to make you think, to give you a glimpse into someone else’s head.” (Malcolm Gladwell) Writing sets you on adventures, helps you in times of needs, brings you joy and sorrow, and just touches your emotions in ways impossible with oral communication. Letters that are sent to a friend or family member is one of the most beautiful ways of written communication and sadly, it’s very rare. In business the way you write shows how far you will go in the company and business, or in life in general. This type of communicating is one of the most difficult forms communication as authors are typically prone to write for themselves, instead of for their readers. It is necessary that the audience understands what has been written and why (The Importance of Written Communication). In all languages on the earth writing appeared before speaking and requires a lot of effort (Chand). Writing differs from oral communication, because once words are spoken they can never be taken back (The Importance of Written Communication). When writing you have to collect the necessary information, arrange it in a logical order and then write out. They have to be careful at every single step, because slip ups can be harmful. With spoke messages and oral communication there is no overview (Chand). As far back to a time which probably cannot be traced, the power of the written word has proved to be incontrovertibly sublime. The written word has saved lives, circulated ideas, preserved traditions and memories (Meyer). Whether in business, politics, or the academic world, the most corporate decisions involve the most complex choices, like that which are leaders make (Farrell). In 1215, King John’s barons created the “Magna Carta”, was a written document was arguably the most significant early influence on the historical process that led to the rule of constitutional law today (Meyer). The written report can present data and a level of analysis that would be problematic to convey in oral form (Farrell). Martin Luther spread his ideas criticizing the sale of indulgences with the “Ninety-five Theses” in 1517 and impacted everyone around him (Meyer). Written communications can help spread awareness saving people around the world (Meyer).
