My name is student X. I sincerely appreciate the writing course, especially now that it is almost complete. I have learned a lot, especially in terms of critical thinking, analysis, comparative assessment, rhetorical techniques, thorough editing of punctuation, format, sentence structure and patience in formulating one edited draft into another. The writing course has helped me to express my thoughts and ideas in an organized, professional and formal manner. Moreover, I have also learned to integrate the ideas of other authors through proper citation, paraphrasing and summarizing the relevant perspectives. I believe that I have advanced my writing skills through this course. I am especially grateful to you, as my professor, in your patience …show more content…
It was entitled “If Only Robots Had Color.” The paper was addressed to the United States Congress, in regard to unlawful / unnecessary killings that were promulgated by the police security officers. One solution that can be envisioned to remedy discrimination and injustice is the use of robotic police officers that know no color, gender bias, unequal social status, and other discriminatory factors. Nevertheless, laws must be formally enacted toward achieving this equal purpose. In writing this paper, I have become vigilant in tackling political and social issues that have become cumbersome to ordinary citizens, especially those who belong to minority groups and with struggling social demeanor. My writing skills have substantially improved, in terms of using rhetorical techniques of persuading the audience and formal content. In fact, in this paper, I have ideally expressed myself with the support of annotated bibliographies and other scholarly materials. The RIP essay is a culmination of what I have learned previously in my two essays and in class. I tend to become more objective and specific in my assessment through providing more examples. I have become cautious in generalizing circumstances through the use of appropriate phrases and sentences. For instance, in the following paragraph, I have provided more examples on how robots can become non-discriminative and effective at

It’s almost the middle of May, and it seems like just yesterday that I walked into your class on the first day of school. At that point, I had band first period. I’ve been through three different first period classes this year -- band, study hall, and finally, Spanish. I’d heard a lot about you and your Honors English class before the first day of school. In fact, I checked with all of my older friends at Amity to find out about my classes and my teachers.…

Dear, Kimmie During my revision process I realized how much I have grown as a writer, I went from someone who was just good enough to get an A in every other English class, to someone who had to try his butt off for the A. This in turn let me learn more in an English class than I ever had before and also let me grow into the prospering writer you see before you today. I learned many things this year that helped really push my writing to the next level that it needed to go, in order to be at that collegiate level. So for that I say thank you, because if it weren’t for you I would be stuck at Nampa with a teacher who mediates in her class. And this would not have let me grow as a writer whatsoever, leaving me stuck in the same old pattern of…

Let me say this to begin this paragraph, some people say they want the truth but settle for lies are words I live by. To be honest, at first, I thought you were trying to kill us (the first four units), I needed to settle for quickies with my wife instead of well you know. I would spend time with her then back to my office to read, respond or whatever was on my schedule for that evening. Honestly, my wife was mad at you, lol, until I reminded her of her receiving her Master’s Degree. I know too funny.…

My tenth-grade experience summed up in one word would be “impactful”. It impacted me in a way that my previous school years could never compare to. The past few years in school involved compliments from teachers who believed I had the work ethic and the smarts to be put in an honor’s class. Only for them to never put me in an honor’s class. The phrase “you should be in the honor’s classes” rung repeatedly in my head to the point where it didn’t seem like a compliment anymore, it seemed like a constant jab at the fact that I wasn’t in the honor’s classes.…

I started my journey through writing this year a bundle of nerves and a stomach full of coffee. This is my first year taking an advanced English course, but I was determined to do well. There has been no sleeping in class or slacking off this year, I’m lucky enough to take a college course a year early and at a better price, and I’m not going to waste it. I’ve learned a lot this semester, including but not limited to: identifying how exactly the author’s purpose and audience determines effective writing, developing pieces of writing though a process of planning, revising, and drafting, compose an organized essay with clear points and main ideas, used appropriate tone and formality, critiqued writing, and finally how to grasp the MLA format. My writing has improved through the concepts I have learned this semester.…

Writing was not a subject that held my interest in high school. Throughout the last twelve years I have found myself having to write letters, proposals, and business correspondence for my employers. I would complete the assignment and move on to the next task. Deciding to further my education I enrolled in Daytona State College and my first class was your ENC 1101. I have seen a change in my pre-class writing style; I have honed my skills, and the different techniques I have learned while taking this course have only improved my writing style.…

Over the course of this semester I learned a lot about myself as a writer. This English 1010 class has really allowed me to expand my essay structure and ways of thinking. When I first started this course, I was scared and didn’t really know what to expect. I branched out to different styles and types of essays as well as incorporating outside sources into my work. At the beginning of the semester, I viewed myself as a creative writer. After attending this class I realized that there is a lot more that goes into writing an essay, or a research paper, than just creativity alone. I have learned that it is very important to be aware of my strengths and weaknesses in my writing. Taking this class has helped me understand the strengths and weaknesses in my writing skills, and it has given me the opportunity to strengthen the areas in which I was weak. An example of this is that I have become aware of my grammar and spelling errors as the semester progressed.…
