My Experience In The Writing Process

This term is the first term that I’ve been back in school in over five years. When I started this class I wasn’t sure if I would remember all of the mechanics of good essay writing, even though I took many writing courses in High School, and my major is in English. Throughout the term I was reminded of some of the smaller bits of the proper writing process that I had either forgotten or had pushed to the side when writing creatively. I can not say that my writing process has drastically changed during this term, but I feel like it was a good refresher course for me. In my narrative essay, I learned that sometimes less is more. I had a good three or four paragraphs that I removed from my final draft, and it made my narrative essay so much stronger and to the point. Wrapping up my writings has always been a bit of a challenge, as I tend to ramble near the end. I learned that if I can be straight to the point, and word my final paragraphs and sentences and then relate them back to my thesis strongly, my papers will be much more clear and precise. Large and small scale editing and revising is something that I still need to work on, but I am getting better at. I looked at my first reflective journal and saw that many of my sentences could have used better word choice and better sentence fluency, and I am working my best to look more critically at my works now. I feel like this last essay is probably the best in sentence structure and fluency because I have collected better experience through my other papers. I know that writing and rewriting and paying attention to smaller details will help me improve my future papers and will help me in more advanced and specialized classes at
