My Writing Experience

I had reading comprehension as a class when I was younger and I struggled immensely. I despised everything about reading and just wanted someone to explain everything to me. After I successfully passed reading, I began a writing class. Because reading and writing are similar, it wasn’t a shock when I found that class difficult as well. I remember all of my classmates coming up with great, elaborate stories with interesting plots when mine was about vague things that have happened in my simple life. My imagination was as big as a pea and I never did anything to improve it. In high school, my life became more exciting, but I struggled to keep them in my memory. This led me to start journalism. My writing experience: I didn’t start to read until I was in first grade. Every week we would go to library to check-out two books and take a test on the books we read on a computer. Every day in English we read a short story to ourselves then we would play games dealing with the story to make it fun. To be honest I never really did a lot of writing in Elementary , Middle, or High school so I can’t pinpoint when I started writing. In essay writing I learned its always good to express yourself with your own opinion.…

My writing experience in and out of school has almost always been seen exactly the same. It’s work, you do it for the grade and for some you suffer the entire time. On the occasional paper, usually one with no restrictions and you choose your subject, I find myself in a love and hate relationship with it. The fact being that writing papers has almost always been seen as homework for me. Have your paper done by this day, it needs to be this many words, and no grammatical errors just isn’t something I’d find myself getting hyped for every saturday night.…

For eighteen years, I have roamed this earth, and for thirteen of those years I have been able to harness my craft in writing. As I look back on those times, I see how much I have improved. I learned that I despised word count essays and loved creative writing assignments. My literacy journey began in kindergarten where they taught us how to write out the alphabet, my name, and simple sentences. I don’t remember everything that about my time in kindergarten, but I do remember how frustrated I was trying to write out my name.…

My experiences with writing have been somewhat limited until I signed up for English 101. I have to admit that English was not my favorite subject in school. I never felt like I was any good at writing, and spelling is still not my strong suit. I always felt like I was better at math. My attitude towards writing was my biggest hindrance to my success.…

By looking back at my writing experiences, I can tell that writing does not come naturally to me and find it to be a real challenge. I may think I did well while writing but in reality I did horrible. It takes me a while to write a paper then other people and there tends to be plenty of problems that try to slow me down. One of the hardest problems I have while writing is trying to find the right words to say. Every time I write I always take longer than anyone else because I always second guess what I just wrote and have to rewrite what I am trying to say.…

While i have had many problems reading and writing, the projects i have accomplished have taught me some processes to help.i am like all people i am not perfect, so one of my big struggles growing up was reading and writing. first of all, i always try to write so fast causing it to become messy and unorganized. I find it better to write if you slow down, take your time, and copy notes off a friend if you get behind. Another problem i have is creating a story to write about. This problem may be very hard to fix for most people but, it helps me when i stop everything i am doing close my eyes and start to think about my topic.finally, the last problem i had with writing was punctuation.…

Getting started writing a paper is a tough task! In my effort to complete writing assignments, my first struggle is often with selecting a topic. I actually prefer to be assigned a topic rather than being allowed the freedom to choose. The world is unfathomably big and tremendously fascinating, I can literally spend days or possibly weeks trying to select a topic. I am exhausted before I even begin my research.…

As of 2018 my writing skills have increased and the types of writing I like have become more clear. However, of course as an 8th grader I have a lot to work on when it comes to writing, chances are you have already found a few mistakes in this paragraph. When it comes to what kinds of writing I have come to like, I have to groups, the writing I like to read and the writing that I find fun to write. In the ”fun to write” category I would place argumentative, and my favorite type of writing to read is narrative. Some of the areas in writing I could work on include but are not limited to, sentence fluency and organization.…

All people have life experiences which influence their understanding of reading and writing. Some of them turn out to have a great impact on the world such as Sigmund Freud- who published a multitude of books developing our understanding of psychology, or Shakespeare- who has widely shaped drama writing and even the English language. I too have a considerable amount of experiences that shaped my writing, not enough to change the world, but enough to where I could share with you the ones that influenced me the most. My first experience was in my childhood.…

Every day, individuals learn new things in their lives. They learn a lot of things that they should be aware of. Two of the most important things that people have to learn are reading and writing. These two things are kind of easy to learn, but they become harder if a learner is not a native speaker. Overcoming My Literacy Journey I can remember as a child probably second or third grade and my Dad pointing to some really hard word in the dictionary. I was able to read that word with ease. He had expressed how he thought I would excel in reading until one day everything changed. I became what I would define as a terrible reader. To say the least my literacy journey has been rather challenging and even frustrating at times.…

For some people, writing is difficult and it can become stressful to write about topics you have no interest about; for me it’s the contrary, I have always had good fluency when it comes to write about any topic, even if it doesn’t interest me, this is mainly because I take it as a new challenge or an opportunity to have a more in deep look about the certain topic; I use this not only for writing but every time I get tasked with something new, for example back when I was in the marine recruit training more commonly known has boot camp, it’s a requirement to learn how to shoot a rifle with outstanding accuracy, for me this was something completely new since I had never held a rifle before and it hadn’t really caught my attention until…

It has always terrified me because I have difficulty putting my thoughts down on paper. This course has proven to be highly inspiring to me as well as frightening. It has really taught me more about the understanding of the writing process and structure, in which helped me to not focus so much on the actual writing parts.…

To me, writing has always been busy work and something that teachers only used to create grades. My writing experience in high school was very limited to one category in: practice AP essays. The writing I did in class was always preparing for AP exams and was very fact based. Most essays, such as history, were only used to show that I knew the material and weren’t graded on how good the writing was. I didn’t feel like I had any freedom to stray away from the format that the AP graders expected because I didn’t want that to affect my score.…
