Personal Narrative: The New Place

Writing is my passion. I love telling tales of exhilarating adventures in fantastical lands; mapping out the route of young love in words; inventing superheroes and villains to face off in the ultimate battle of good and evil. In fact, it was my childhood. I remember being five years old when I wrote my first ever 'book '. It was seven tiny pages, barely one hundred words long in total, and called 'The New Place ' because I couldn 't spell 'palace '. But I was proud of it and I enjoyed it immensely. In fact, I loved it so much that I wrote another six 'books ' in a similar style all entitled 'The New ..... '. As I got older I wrote more and more. I gave my primary three teacher a personalised story of her on an exciting day out instead of a thank you present, and regardless of my appalling spelling, and the distinct lack of a plot, she loved it as much as the standard boxes of chocolates and tacky mugs my classmates had purchased for her. Even nowadays I 'm a regular writer, constantly coming up with new ideas for characters and situations, although at present it is for my own personal enjoyment rather …show more content…
The thing I have always loved about stories is that they always have plot twists, surprises that can throw the whole course of a book, and although I can 't come back to life or reveal myself as someone 's long lost sibling perhaps a plot twist is exactly what I need. I have a terrible habit when I 'm writing of being 'eraser happy '. If I find the story moving in a way I 'm not expecting I tend to just get rid of the past few paragraphs and rewrite the plot so it goes towards what I 'm expecting. Although this isn 't necessarily the worst thing, it means that I never explore any other options, simply sticking to the original plan for the story. So maybe before I pull out my eraser and get rid of a few of my recent thoughts to put myself back on track to becoming a scientist, I should consider some of my other

Reading and writing have been passions of mine since the moment I first learned to read. I grew up reading all the time and writing fun stories, whether it be on a computer or paper with a pencil. Getting lost in worlds of adventure across fantasy and history continues to bring joy into my life, which is found in both reading and writing. A few years ago, I decided that I wanted to start writing a book with the intent of trying to get it published. While I had an idea in mind with much of the plot and characters detailed out, the process never truly began or continued.…

Even though I enjoyed writing, but that did not mean it came easy to me. It was a real challenge for me. It took me most of high school to understand how to write for the most part. I learned a lot from my junior year English teacher Mr. Kaplan who once told me to “expand my intellectualism. “I took this and applied it to my writings.…

My History As A Writer Throughout my lifetime I have come to love and absolutely hate writing. The reasoning of the assignment or topic has a lot to do with my affinity and disgust. Although learning new things, like writing, was something that I loved doing in elementary school, that all changed when it was daily implemented. As an art form I recently come to love writing down my thoughts, ideas, opinions and stories.…

There is a lot of people in the world that can count on one hand how many times they have done something that they felt was important, and received no recognition. There are people that will gravitate towards the idea of getting recognition for their good deeds. That only let me be aware of any thing you try to do for me, you will have a hidden agenda. I feel that most people do things because they can help, or maybe they just like to teach people to be more like them, and some may get some type of enjoyment from staying in the background.…

Out With the Old In With the New Looking back at the old me in high school, I would have never guessed I’d become the young woman I am today. I’ve always had a vision of what I wanted to look like and how I wanted to be, yet I never made any changes to become the person. That was until the summer of 2015. This is the time where I told myself that things would have to change in the Fall.…

Head down Chapel Hill Street then take a left onto Hummingbird Lane and at the bottom of the hill you'll see my home away from home. The drive to my grandparents was memorized before I knew how to get back to my own home (hyperbole). This is the place where me and my brothers, Brandon and Gavin, would run and explore with no cares in the world. Everything from the pond, in the enormous front yard, to the dirt road and pine trees in the back, have memories from baby years to now. This has always been my happy place; all my senses begin to tingle as I enjoy this lovely place.…

A Turning Point Many events occur during a person’s lifetime, some heal the soul and others leave an unpleasant scar. Either way, by time, all of those events come together to give that person a memorable experience that will not be forgotten. I have faced many terrific circumstances, some of which gave me good memories and some gave me terrible experiences. However, the most remarkable event in my life was an exceptional one, one that made me realize that no matter how bad things get, there will always be something better.…

It's funny because I have those memories saved till today. Later, in high school I took a creative writing class I'm far from being a good writer, but I love how someone could tell their own story through their own words and make someone else feel what they are feeling or what they felt. I appreciate writing and I consider it a form of art for example music. I don't write music but I love listening to music and having a singer say a deep line or verse in a song and I am able to relate.…
