Writing Intensive

Are Students Necessary to Take Writing Intensive Class? What do you think about writing intensive? Words, essays, or reports? How do you think about writing intensive class? It is good for students or a challenge. Writing intensive course is a class for students to develop their writings with promoting students’ abilities to write. In California state university system, writing intensive is a class students need to meet the graduation requirement. Students might be necessary to take the writing intensive because writing intensive class help student to improve writing skill. One of the professor said even though writing intensive course might be a challenge to some college students, she believes writing intensive is still necessary because it can force students to not only put their thoughts together but also put these thoughts into words for others to read. The other professor think it is necessary too because many students fail to develop their academic writing voice, but it is hard to tell if the writing intensive class is challenge to students or not. Since some students are good at writing, it is not a problem to these students to writing any papers. However, for students who do not good at writing, they might struggle on how to write a good paper, how to connect the research into their writing. Additionally, students from college used to learn MLA format, but it requires students to use APA format in writings. This is a challenge to students who have never used APA before because APA and MLA are very different from each other. The other professor thinks writing intensive is necessary for students who cannot make the transition successfully to academic writing. Even though some major courses do not have any writing requirement, taking the writing intensive course helps students with their grammatically and structurally voice. For every research and invention, the researcher and inventor need to explain how they get the data, the usage, and meaning. If the person cannot make it clear to be able to understand, then no one will pay attention to the research and invention. As the result, do the research and invention have any meaning? Thus, it is also necessary to take writing intensive course for none writing requirement major students too. In other words, students who choose majors with writing requirements can take more advantages from writing intensive since it prepares students a better writing skill that students can do well in classes. At the same time, students from some colleges used to have MLA format which is very different from APA format. Writing intensive course is tended to teach students APA format which is also required in other classes at state university. Therefore, writing intensive course is not only developing students better writing skills but also different formatting. In my opinion, writing intensive course is necessary.
