For this writing assignment we were given the task of taking a survey that gave me an approximate age at which I would live until. I thought that this assignment was eye opening and helped drive home the idea that everyone dies eventually but how long you live partially depends on how you treat your body. In regards to my estimated age I was happy to hear that with my current habits that I would live till I was 85 years old. I was more surprised by the fact that my age was 2.5 years bellow average compared to everyone else.

If I was to improve myself there were a few small things that I could work on in hopes of improving my age. One of the things was to increase the number of times I exercise. I usually go to the gym 3-4 days a week. I believe

I personally believe that a wellness class is something that is both very informative and that it offers a lot of information that can help people in their daily lives. Unlike Millersville a lot of other universities don't offer or require their students to take a wellness course. I think this lack of classes is due to people not seeing the importance of it and can also be due to the lack of funding. This is an important goal for me because I never had the chance to meet some of my grandparents and I would not like my grandchildren to have the same experience. This would be a goal that I would need to reach toward the end of my

A few of the main points addressed are things such as that the course is considered challenging and very different from high school courses, few resources exist for the course, or unengaged students have a higher risk of failing. The first critique given can be considered the most important as a class that is considered to difficult could dissuade students from taking the class if not required, and can also harm the students confidence entering such a course. The second critique can only be mended with time and more experience, as a new class is impossible to have a wealth of information anyways. The last point can be difficult for students who struggle to enjoy reading or writing as not every student is going to enjoy the subject, some students will be more likely to fail at the start of the…

Secondly, knowing the audience that the speaker is talking to helps convey the tone because it gives the speaker a sense of what word choice and emotions need to be hit in order to get the response that is desired. This quote by Vince Lombardi states, “We didn’t lose the game, we just ran out of time.” That quote approximately means that just because a scoreboard states that you lost a game doesn’t mean you didn’t have the potential in the end to beat a team with a little more time. Using that meaning of the quote, the reader can assume that this quote was wrote by someone like a coach of some kind which also helps the reader know that the audience must be athletes. With that, people can infer that this coach was trying to invoke…

Write of what parts of the text were the most difficult to read, and to identify how many times a passage was read before some understanding was achieved. This has been actually one of my best weeks so far, week 6. The topics were linear equations and non linear equations and I was able to remember about them so this time my brain was not that disconnected as normally is with algebra which made me happy. Do not get me wrong, I still had to read multiple times some sections that caused a little confusion, but again it was not that bad and at the end everything came back to me, this time it was a lot easy for me to figure out some of the book samples, except of course the ones that had multiple fractions I am still under pressure with those.…

I teach "Introduction to Literature" and "Standard Freshman Composition" courses at Suffolk County Community College. I personally design both of my courses, which adhere to the mission statement of the college. In "Introduction to Literature," my students engage in imaginative works of literature, analyze major literary themes and forms, continue training in effective prose writing skills, and demonstrate maturity and thought and style when deconstructing literary elements such as image, plot, character, theme, and conflict. In "Standard Freshman Composition," I prepare my students to produce quality work that utilizes writing techniques, analyzes reading material, and incorporates research techniques that will aide them in their academic future. The outcomes of this course are for the student to be able to construct a central purpose in their expository work, to have coherent organization, improved writing mechanics, to formulate effective thesis statements that demonstrate complex thought, and to integrate relevant, cited sources into their work.…

English composition was never my strong nor favorite because of my knowledge of the grammar and organization in my writing. The course has introduced me to rhetorical analysis, and swatching (imitating author argument). Throughout the semester and all of the papers written I can say that it was a good experience to write at a college level and the expectation from college professors is good for future courses that involve writing essays.…
