I could no longer bear the responsibility of a child’s life in my hands due to the bureaucracy and conditions that plagued many of the people in my caseload. The stress of such an endeavor was affecting my health. I still wanted to be helpful and to try to make a difference in peoples’ lives but not at the expense of my own. I took some time off to reflect on what my next step would be and to be more available to my youngest child whom was entering the third grade at a different school.…

I started the social work program at Oakland University in 2013 at that time my goal was to obtain my BSW with a minor in child welfare. My other goal was to work for the D.H.H.S in child protection services. I never thought about going further in my education mostly because I am a much older student and the amount of debt already accumulated seems slightly overwhelming. The other reason is my age itself, or at least it was. When starting out I let my age become a negative and always felt somewhat out of place.…

The role of a documentarian is to tell a story contained of important tales in the world where the truths that they want to tell are either ignored or hidden. By producing their film, documentarians owe their viewers the justification of the manipulation of individual facts, sequences and meanings of not only the images, but the stories they have been told. Documentarians also owe their viewers the accuracy and integrity of their work. I don't think that documentarians can give the public their own interpretation of the events because they could threaten the credibility of the final product.
