Here at UCI, I have taken many writing courses before this class such as AC Eng. 20B, AC Eng. 20C, AC Eng. 20D, AC Eng. 28, Writing 39A, and Writing 39B. Writing has always been my biggest fear and it is something that I have the most difficulty doing it because English is not my first language that I have learned in my life. In addition, I never had any problem communicating with people, but when it comes to writing, I always have to go through a lot of struggles to put them into words because most of the time I find myself repeating the same concept throughout my writing, which most likely to make me go off topic. That lack of skills would always indicate in my academic paper. My experiences with the previous writing courses was not very …show more content…
Writing 39C course is there to mainly help us understand the rhetorical situation where we learn how we can conduct research and evaluate them using the numerous types of evidence from the different sources. Another thing, I have learned is that Rhetoric is an art of persuasion, where we are always already in rhetorical situation which we have persuaded. Also, Rhetoric is a technique that we can use to persuade our readers and audiences. In this course, I learned that we need to have very deep analysis and argument to persuade our peers with the strong evidence about the topic. And also we have to make sure that we always answer these four kinds of questions such as who is persuading, whom, of what and how they are doing it? My expectations for this class are that during these 10 weeks of this quarter is that I am hoping to learn how to recognize the form of rhetorical situation and rhetorical persuasion and able to learn how to make a strong argument with the evidence. Another expectation I have from this course is that I want to learn how to do good analyses of different genres from the reading which we have to read for this class because sometimes I get so confused with the vocabulary where I lose track of the reading and the meaning of the text. End of this quarter, I am expecting to be able to become a proficient writer and strengthen my writing skills, which will help me with my future career and courses. One of the most important things, I would like you to know about me is that I am a person who need a lot of help with writing especially when it comes to grammar, organization, and clearing the ideas about the

PADM 302 Course Reflection My primary goals for this course were to improve my writing skills in two specific ways. I wanted to be able to write with greater speed, but with apparent quality, and I wanted to be clearer in my writing. I had two strategies in mind to meet these goals. The first included becoming proficient at writing outlines and frameworks, which, I thought, would help me better adhere to my objectives for the papers I write. The second strategy was to learn methods by which I could become more concise in writing which would enable me to more powerfully present the points I wish to deliver in papers.…

Writing has not been my strongest subject throughout my time being in school. I’ve always struggled with the English language since it was my second language. This transferred to my writing and it was very noticeable. However, during my time in the Writing 39 series, it has influenced me to use the strategies I learned in writing and apply it to other classes. One thing I’ve discovered from being in Writing 39B is how to interpret the author’s purpose.…

Crazy is the word I choose to best describe my life currently. Being in college is hard, then again, going back to college in your thirties with the spans of a decade between classes is potentially exhausting, if not grueling. My story is a classic, hardly unique, that many others could write it as well. After graduating high school, I started taking general education courses at my local community college to get them out of the way before enrolling into more degree specific courses.…

I personally have noticed many changes throughout this course. I mostly noticed how now I analyze my jobs more with my coworkers, bosses and myself. I have one job that I absolutely love and another one that I do not care for very much, I did not really understand why because I get along well with my coworkers and higher ups. As our course went on and I started to understand business some more I then realized why there were certain things that were shaping my views about my jobs. One big thing that I noticed was the team work at my jobs.…

Upon my entry into English 1010-02, my first college writing class, I expected to breeze through the course with an easy-A and minimal effort after my successful completion of AP English 11 this past year. I began the year with the utmost confidence in my writing abilities, and believed that my skills were above par. It wasn’t until I received my score on the essay evaluation for my First-Week Essay- a measly five out of twenty- that I realized that this was not the case. At first, I was astonished that my seemingly exceptional writing skills had not earned me the A that I believed I deserved. However, as time went on I came to the realization that I had not put in nearly enough time or effort into the paper to receive more than a C at most.…

Never assume that you will not be good at something when you did not give yourself the time to put your brain to work. A statement that I heard multiple times but that make sense, once again, with this class. I walked in with uncertain and thin writing abilities, and the fear not to be able to align five, different and acceptable essays. However, because of my openness to what would be offered, I acquired and sharpened a great deal of skills. Among which the ability to invent, deliver and edit a text, with the purpose to narrate, criticize or simply analyze, in conformity to the rules of Standard Edited American English.…

Written language is a trait known to be only possessed by mankind. Although other species may have audible forms of communication, man is able to record and document his thoughts, feelings, or events that have unfolded in a way that can be viewed multiple times without him having to use his voice over and over. Literacy is a skill that adults in the United States are expected to have; but the level of your literacy says a lot about you and can have a tremendous impact on what career you end up in. For this reason, this college English class is a requirement for all those seeking a degree. Not only did I learn how to think of subjects and topics more objectively, but I learned a multitude of different modes and strategies I can employ in my writing.…

I am very thankful for taking this course as I feel I have vastly improved in multiple areas of my communication. I had never taken a course that involved writing a paper and then presenting a speech on it to the class. It was either one or the other, not both.
