This course was a valuable experience. Any time there’s a chance to improve my writing skills, in conjunction with, receive detailed feedback from a well-informed professor, is a win, win situation. I started this course with many writing and grammar flaws but will leave this course a more confident writer. I still have plenty of work to do, nonetheless, I personally think that understanding my flaws will allow me to learn how to fix those flaws, which in turn, will make me a better writer.
Lastly, I enjoyed interacting with my fellow classmates. Shout outs to everyone who posted and kept the boards lively and interesting!

Early on in this class my writing was not the best, but through the extensive practice and learning about different writing prompts and techniques my writing got better throughout the year. The decoding packets that we did also helped me fix some of the frequent grammatical mistakes that I made. As the year went on this class became slightly, and I mean slightly easier. I am immensely proud of the fact that my writing has improved over this year, and the improvements in every area of writing that I made is the one thing that I feel the most accomplished…

The first time, I enrolled in this class, I felt excited knowing this class would help on my grammar, so I can become a better writer. My first thought that cross my mind was this was going to be easy and it was. My last experienced with writing and English was okay because I mainly get a B or a C, but rarely I would get an A. I always been having trouble with grammars. My high school English teachers taught us about grammars and how to become a better writer. It was similar to what you had taught us in class because we always learned about grammar out of a book and we got tested after we been practice.…

Before beginning this course, I knew that I lacked confidence within my writing. People say that you are your own worst critique, and I fully agree with that statement. My writing was not terrible in some aspects, but I knew that it needed to be improved upon. I lacked the experience needed because writing was not something that I did on a daily basis. When I first started English 1302, the little confidence that I had significantly plummeted since my writing seemed childish compared to other students.…

I learned a couple of very important things during the course. I am more understanding of the need for college students to be able to write and speak correctly. I also found out more about the availability of particular websites that will help enhance my writing capabilities. As I stated in our Unit 2 discussion, knowing how to read and write correctly can dictate how a person views you. Not using proper vocabulary, spelling, etc., could impact everyday life.…

In this paper I will reflect on the four lenses outlook that Brookfield describes in his work related to thinking and learning. I also will look over the process that I experienced over the last several weeks that involved different strategies to incorporate an inclusive learning environment and dealing with multiculturalism in my career. Then I will reflect over the growth development that I have from the beginning of the course until now on the goals that I had created for myself and the next steps that will follow. Four Lenses for Thinking and Learning Steven Brookfield developed a model that concentrated on four perspectives of thinking and learn. The first part of the thinking and learning model is gaining knowledge from our own experiences…

I am writing to inform you that I have strengthened my understanding of the use and incorporation of knowledge and ideas. My skills in writing have become significantly stronger ever since we started this semester back in January. Before I took Writing in the Sciences with you as my instructor, incorporating knowledge and ideas has became a lot easier for me to accomplish when writing. I never realized how inadequate I was at incorporating my ideas into my writing. One activity that helped me improve the most was the group research project.…

Here at UCI, I have taken many writing courses before this class such as AC Eng. 20B, AC Eng. 20C, AC Eng. 20D, AC Eng. 28, Writing 39A, and Writing 39B. Writing has always been my biggest fear and it is something that I have the most difficulty doing it because English is not my first language that I have learned in my life. In addition, I never had any problem communicating with people, but when it comes to writing, I always have to go through a lot of struggles to put them into words because most of the time I find myself repeating the same concept throughout my writing, which most likely to make me go off topic. That lack of skills would always indicate in my academic paper. My experiences with the previous writing courses was not very…

One of the first concepts I gained from this class was the idea of the rhetorical triangle. The rhetorical triangle consists of three points, much like the geometric triangle. The points of the triangle include audience, speaker, and text which were surrounded by the hypothetical circle of context. In high school we just barely scraped the surface of each of these topics but in English 101 we actually learned how to find each of these in text and how to effectively compose about them. In the entering the conversation essay, I lost focus on the fact that we were not writing the paper to our instructor but to people who cared about the conversation of our paper or have already entered the same conversation.…
