The process of how I wrote assignment 1
I thought this essay would be easy for me. As I read through the prompt, my high school English teacher, Mr. Fine, immediately appeared in my mind. And many interesting and impressive things about how he taught me also pop up in my mind quickly. Besides, this essay was literacy narrative. I thought the feelings, the anecdotes and the comments would be more subjective than those in argumentative essay. The only thing I worried about is that I only write literacy narrative essay twice before, and I still not sure about how to well organize this kind of essay and how literacy narrative should look like.

I think my reading has improved because I use better vocabulary and I can understand what I am reading. The reading strategies have helped me to become a better reader. I still rely on DJE, T2T like I did when I took basic reading as well. They are very helpful strategies that help me to read better and think about what I am reading. For this and other classes my goals are to understand what I am reading and being able to sum up what I read with very little difficulty.…

Now I could lie and make up stuff that made me like reading and writing but I see no point in that. Honestly I don’t have a lot of memories of reading and writing from when I was a little kid and I can tell you now that football hasn’t helped me at remembering those memories either. With that being said I do remember some memories, some are good and also bad.…

This bright, luminous light had come from none other than the room of my junior year English teacher, Mrs. Barnheiser. A smile came across my face as I reached for the door knob to enter the presence of my beloved teacher; a kind soul that changed my style of writing. It was at that moment that I recalled all the memories of the hardships and difficulties of the class that influenced me to become a better writer.…

Throughout my exploratory essay there was an objective tone instead of a subjective tone. This tone helped me write an efficient exploratory essay in which I include factual evidence and textual analysis towards the topic of segmented assimilation in which specific generations go through, as they adjust to a new culture and society. Instead of including emotions and my opinion on the situation, I had to use historical resources, via web or journals, such as social studies. The medium of this paper is a typed and printed essay.…

My literacy narrative I turned in last week was not a complicated paper, but I had a few troubles along the way. I had just one main problem and it was the introduction. My comma mistakes and trying to include enough support in my conclusion was not a breeze to do either. Overall, the essay was not hard to write about it was just a few little mistakes that I had along the way that made it complicated.…

The Literacy Narrative was sort of a trial and error project. I wrote the essay the best way I knew how and hoped for the best grade. I did though get to tackle a more creative aspect of my writing that needed much working on. Since this essay was based on our own experiences, it allowed me to be as creative as I would like rather than being confined to the requirements that something like a research paper would have. Despite this, I still realized that my Literacy Narrative was not my strongest paper.…

The Dreaded Reading Class It was the first day of third grade. I jumped out of my moms car after kissing her on the cheek and hearing the routine “have a good day”. Jordy and I fashioned our Limited Too dresses and sparkly back packs.…

Ogene Ochai Professor Thomas Writ 101 9 September 2014 Literacy Narrative Moving to the United States was a very hard transition for me. Learning how to speak the American English, and learning their spelling words was so difficult because I was raised speaking British English, learning the morals, culture and how you guys communicated with one another was also a hard part of moving down here. I already knew how to speak English when I moved to the United States, but I spoke British English, and spelt words differently from the Americans. For example, the Americans spells color without a “U” and with the background I had we spelt the word “color” with a U, and we used the same words but some of them has…

Dear First Year Writing Assessment Committee: In this letter, I will explain my learning outcomes and experiences with my essays for English 1010. English 1010, defined by academic standards, is to develop in first-year college writers a deeper understanding of the complexities of writing through instruction and guided practice in the skills, processes, and strategies necessary for effective, successful writing. In my past semester of English 1010, I was able to demonstrate my abilities to be an effective writer and enhance my writing skills through guiding essay projects. I do believe my abilities were improved in topics including: finding the author’s purpose, explaining ideas, revising, editing, proofreading, organizing the structure of my paper, and etc.…

When it comes to write your ideas in paper, you might be struggled; especially if the language in which you are writing is a second language. In my case this class, English 111 taught by Dr.Ellen McKenzie, was one of my challenging class I have never seen in College, and I was wandering if I could overcome it. But, my determination reinforced by my teacher’s teaching method have made more successful in this class. The second essay that I revised was my Narrative essay, in this essay I first reread the whole essay. When I finished rereading the essay I went to the introduction and read it again, I then realized that my introduction lacked a good thesis and a hook, so I changed my boring introduction from “July 6, 2016, as I stumble out my house to the sound of a car horn honking only to realize it was my friends in the car impatiently waiting for me to get ready.” to “Have you ever let jealousy motivate you to do something bad? Well, I never have, and this is why. July 6, 2016, it was one of my typical summer nights; me lying in the bed on the phone with my friend Tamica waiting for someone to text me with plans.”.…

Reading Essay I didn’t start to enjoy reading until I was about 8 or 9 when I started going to the school library more and checked out a book called Wait till Helen Comes. It is a mystery novel by Mary Downings about a girl who’s father, stepmother, brother, and stepsister all move into an old church in a small town down in the country. I fell in love with it immediately, I fell in love with mystery novels, especially ones that have sequels because I love the suspense of a good mystery. I was really sad when I couldn 't find anymore of Mary Downing’s books in my school 's library so I decided to look for more in my local library, but unfortunately I forgot how to spell her name so I had a hard time finding more books.…

Well, in this portfolio, I included most of my writings within this semester to display my interests and abilities in writing and I will present my writing development with rhetorical purposes and basic formats applied.…
