The topic of writing is a very broad topic, expressed in several different styles and genres. Many of which have their own distinct characteristics which allows them to contain their own place in writing. I have decided to pursue my essay topic on the genre of persuasive essays or in many cases have been known as argument essays. A persuasive essay is a form of writing that attempts to persuade the reader to adopt a certain point of view or to take a particular action on its topic of display. This requires the writer to begin his essay taking a position for or against an issue in which he plans to write about. This form of writing is generally used when one feels strongly about a well debated topic, and wishes to help others realize why they feel their way is the better way to believe. To write a persuasive essay you must find a topic of argument that matters to you. If you are not interested in what you claim to be debating about your argument will not be as persuasive as you wish for it to be. One to two sentences may be the turning point in your readers mind. After researching your subject you will then be able to provide the reader with well supported reasons as to why he or she should follow your belief. For example, after reading these few sentences ones whole view may change on the subject of tobacco. “Discoveries have shown that Cigarettes have been known to contain a total of 600 ingredients, and when burned release an approximation of about 7,000 chemicals none of which are known to have a positive effect on the body. In fact at least sixty-nine of these 7,000 chemicals released are known to have some aid in the disease of cancer.” Those few lines contain facts as well as reasons why you shouldn’t comply with the use of tobacco products. Every bit of information counts because you never know which sentence will cause the reader to see your point of
