Writing a Narrative Essays Writing is something everyone learns about around 5th grade. Learning to write is a huge part of school and there’s even a few big writing tests that have to be passed. In middle school, every teacher wants a five paragraph essay starting with an introduction. The introduction needs to include the topic and tell what the point of the essay is. After the introduction there needs to be three paragraphs that explain the topic and if there’s an argument taking place then you may need to take a side. The conclusion is the last paragraph in the essay. It has to sum up all the points and make a last statement that concludes the story. Most teachers want this style of essay until high school. Classes such as; English I, English II, English III, and Composition I completely change how students write essays. In high school the teachers start to ask for different types of essays. When writing a narrative essay I always start by brainstorming ideas and writing down every single topic I can think of. Narrative essays tell a story and it’s good to choose an instance in life where a lesson was learned. An important talk with a parent or a moment when you learned from a past mistake can make good topics when writing a narrative essay. It’s important to choose a topic that fits the prompt and can be easily written about. Choosing a personal experience that can barely be remembered or written about can cause a huge problem when trying to write.
