Writers Career Research Paper

Some of the most important occupations in the world are the ones most people do not stop to think about and appreciate. Despite most popular career choices such as doctors, teachers, lawyers, and IT workers come to mind easily, there is much more than those. One underrated career would be an author, novelists specifically. Though most people do this is a hobby or part time job, this can and is a full time career that many talented people put all their effort in to satisfy their audience. If many people wish to write a book, it is hard because "strong competition is expected for full-time jobs because many people are attracted to this occupation" (Writers and Authors: Occupational Outlook Handbook:: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). In fact, to successfully write their own book, it is required they have at least a Bachelor's degree. In addition to that, it is important to note that authors need to have experience on what they are writing about, even if they have amazing writing talents and if their work is fiction. Authors also need to know the importance of using computers to make their career much smoother. "Proficiency with computers is necessary for staying in touch with sources, editors, and other writers while working on assignments" (Writers and Authors: Occupational Outlook Handbook:: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). Also, they need on-the-job training in order to become familiar with the work field. Even though being a writer does not require experience, but it is much better if they know what to expect, do, and complete. The average novelist earns about $55,940 a year ($26.89 per hour).
