But most people don’t realize the struggle the captive animals face every single day of their lives. Killer whales living in these parks are expected to practice tricks perfectly and perform them to public audiences, even when they are very stressed or sick.
Keeping orcas in captivity have made their lives very stressful, so powerful rage and anger come from that. For example, the famous Tilikum from SeaWorld killed 3 people, including well trained Dawn Brancheau.
Their health is also affected by this. Orcas chew at the sides of their pool as a sign of boredom or something more serious, like anxiety which is not uncommon with captive orcas. Although there are a lot of problems with captive orcas, there is some good reasons to keep maintaining these parks. One is that if there were no parks running, we would never see orcas unless we stayed at the ocean for a long period of time. SeaWorld also gives money to 24,000 animal rescues, making them fund the biggest rescue and rehabilitation program on the planet.
If the suggestions that are discussed on the following page are carried out, marine animal parks will not get the backlash that they get
