Honduras is beautiful country with a diverse landscape filled with mountains, hills, waterways, and numerous natural resources. But Honduras’ greatest resource are the people and their will of resilience though being branded the most dangerous country on the planet. It is not from the lack of trying to improve but, the lack of infrastructure they have not been able to establish on a consistent basis. It has the highest death rate in the world, an high crime rare, and very low educational levels. It is a country of approximately 8.5 million people and where unfortunately 20 people are killed every day, five times the rate of Chicago one of the United States largest cities. The remainder regions are primarily agricultural which produces bananas and coffee, which makes up approximately 16 percent of their total exports and is historically known as the original “Banana Republic” (“OEC – Honduras (HND) Exports, Imports, and Trade Partners,” n.d.). Honduras education attainment of primary-school enrollment is at 100 percent, but falls greatly after the age of 10 years old. Consequently, the education level itself is meagre at best with the drop-out rate and grade repetition extremely high. Moreover, this equates to many of the adolescents leaving school to help in providing for their family. This often unfortunately causes them to seek illegal trades as well, such as pedaling drugs. This causes sustainability to be unbalanced with regards to the “three Es”, the economy, the environment, and social well-being (Knox & Marston, 2016, p. 54).
