During the drought the greatest impact and most incredible change was the decreasing water levels in various locations. Many of the locations were filled with various plants and fish, one specific location, Lake Oroville, housed the main location for local fisherman and boat owners that would travel for a vocational spot. During the drought, it made it less possible for many to attend, let alone house the large amount of boats. Due to the increased amount of plants, many believe it was a sign of growth and the ending of the droughts, but many didn’t realize that it would be the catalyst that was needed to ignite the fires. After the plants started to die, a wind called the Santa Ana winds begun blowing hot, dry air from the Great basin that initiated the wildfires. These winds are typically generated due to the great high-pressure system that emerges above the mountains and then blowing winds into California.
