During this year’s football games, fans would leave bottles and trash all over the bleachers. A friend and I saw that an organization called, “Keep Brownsville Beautiful” wanted volunteers to pick up bottles we tried to encourage and told all our friends who needed community hours to come pick up plastic bottles. We made it a sort of fun gathering and about six to twelve friends would help out at least every home game.
Cleaning up the bleachers, looking at them clean, and spending time with friends made me realize that if we can get some friends to help out we can encourage a whole club. We gathered about three fourths of the members of HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) to volunteer during the games and help out. That experience led me into choosing AP Environmental science to see the problems we have in our world so in the near future I can find ways to make my community, this world a better and cleaner place to live
