In ALL 125 module we were expected to write an argumentative essay which required us to follow a writing process. The writing process consists of drafting, reviewing and revising. In this essay i will discuss what I have learnt from this writing process, problems I identified with my writing and how I have managed to overcome these; as well as how I will apply what I have learnt in this module to my written assignments in the future.
From this process, I have learnt that doing a number of drafts before the final one is beneficial. This is because having done a number of drafts allows one to generate and organise ideas as well as elaborate on them. This is a process; hence, it cannot be done a day before submission. Having enough time to follow the process has allowed me to reflect on my work; therefore, improving on my original ideas. This has allowed me to come back and see wherether I have answered the question in a satisfactory manner. I learn that having atleast two people review my work is better as one picks up the errors that the other did not. This has also made it possible to recieved various viewpoints on my writing. The biggest problem was drifting from the topic. I corrected this problem asking who, what, where, why and how in my planning. I found that too much information may lead to overlapping the number of words we are restricted to, therefore it is important to plan accordingly. I learnt that my introdutions were vague. I corrected this by typing my introduction last, as an introduction should present an abstract view of the overall essay. I lacked referencing skill, to fix this I asked for help at the writing centre. I also received help from the writting centre on how to use panctuation marks to shorten long sentences. My spelling is an issue too, I read more to help with my
