Shingles (Herpes Zoster) is identified as painful skin rash that usually appears in a band, a strip, or a small area on one side of the face or body. Although shingles can technically occur anywhere on the body, it will most often appear as a single band of blisters that wraps around on one side of the torso. Shingles is most prevalent in older individuals and those who have weak immune systems often due to stress, injury, and other medicines. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, “Fifty percent of all Americans will have had shingles by the time they are 80. While shingles occurs in people of all ages, it is most common in 60- to 80-year-olds. In fact, one out of every three people 60 years or older will get shingles.”
