Write A Personal Reflection: I Shadowed Dr. Hemant Patel

This past summer, I shadowed Dr. Hemant Patel in the Bronx and Harlem area. Collaborating with the doctors at the clinic was an eye-opening experience because I learned the basis of numerous new procedures as well as how to perform them correctly. Dr. Patel taught me how to counsel patients on their diet, conduct a depression screening, and take blood pressure correctly. During this experience, I also learned how to log patient visits and other assessments conducted every visit.
One very important skill that Dr. Patel emphasized and taught me was effective communication, an important skill that all medical professionals need. Dr. Patel taught me how to approach patients and how to inform them of their current condition smoothly and in a polite
