She told us, “You must travel back to the 1800s and this time actually learn something.” Of course, Jamyra’s hand immediately shot up and she shouted, “I have a question!”
Immediately, Riley and I made eye contact and we decided to be partners. After class, we met up to start the project. I grabbed some paper and began folding. Quickly, I was finished and we were prepared to travel. The origami crane grew larger, and without any hesitation, it was ready to travel on. Before leaving, we wrote down the names of the people we had to learn about. From there on, the software controlling the paper decided everything except for what we wrote down.

As we were laughing, I hopped on the butterfly and Riley jumped on after me. Soon, we were in the heading to 1802. The butterfly whirred around a building eventually landing on a farm. Riley and I stepped off and immediately knew exactly where we were. It looked like a plantation in South Carolin. Men and women were lined up and down the rows plowing and planting. Then, a young girl walked right through us without hesitating. She was keeping her head down and moving fast. Suddenly, the crack of a whip boomed throughout the farm. It seemed to only startle me and Riley. We heard the young girl sniffle a bit and move a little faster.
“From the looks of it, that's probably Sarah,” Riley spoke in a quiet tone even though no one could hear us.
I noticed a butterfly coming closer and it looked like it was growing larger. It grew up to a worrying size and speed. Swiftly, the butterfly swooped down and picked both of us up and circled around extremely fast until dropping us off again in 1828. Everything came into focus once again.
I pointed out a sign to Riley, “ Looks like we’re in Pennsylvania now.”
“I bet Sarah came here because of the slavery in the south.”
