It was a great day. I got to spend time with my brother that I only got to see about 4 times a year, if I was lucky. It was the same deal with my grandparents before they moved up here. I had spent all day just hanging out and occasionally leaving to go to the mall or something. Back then, it was the epitome of a good day. That was until about 5 or 6 when we had to embark on about a 5-hour drive home. With me being a lot younger than I am now, those goodbyes were always rough knowing that I didn’t know when I would see them next.
It was all a normal drive home, stopping at the occasional rest stop for breaks and snacks. Driving quickly and passing cars farms and fields in the dark of night. We had to come home from Ottumwa, which isn’t exactly a quick drive, but good thing I had plenty of things to keep me occupied. One of those things was seasons 1 and 2 of The Big Bang Theory and a portable DVD player. I had watched a lot of it coming home that day and then I figured I would take a nap.
