When it comes to the end of the school every one to three years, the army sends out new a job order to my dad and I know that I have to end a chapter in my life and start a new one. This being my tenth, I decided I didn’t want to go through the pain again, so I kept telling myself that I’m going on a long vacation and I will return on day.
I looked out the window, watching the scenery fly by. Could this 9-hour drive get any longer? I closed my eyes and decided to catch on some sleep.
I was standing behind my bathroom sink, curling my hair and putting makeup on my face. I changed into a nice striped, white and blue dress with a bow on the front and I slipped my Sperry’s onto my feet. “Hurry up! You’re gonna be late!” My mom howled from the bottom of the steps. I took one last look in the mirror, fixed my hair and left. “I’m so proud of you! Being accepted into the National Junior Honor Society is a big deal, but it’s a bigger deal in high school so keep it up!” My mom and I drove down the street to my school and walked in.
“Abby!” I called out, waving towards her, “I love you dress. The flowers on it are beautiful! I might just steal it from you,” I winked and laughed . We both ran into the rain, getting ourselves wet and then we just laughed. Her caramel hair was soaked, along with my dress. That was probably my favorite memory because we didn’t think of what was going to happen and we just didn’t care about it either.
When I opened my eyes, the car was parked in front of a brown, maroon brick house. I stepped out of the car, stretched my legs, grabbed my bags, and walked to the front door. “Welcome to your new house.” My mom said excitedly when we put the key in the lock and unlocked the purple door. I stepped inside the house and it felt like I couldn’t breath. It felt like someone punched me in the gut. My eyes wondered around the house and I kept telling myself that this wasn’t my house. I just wanted to keep telling myself that I didn’t leave Virginia.
I walked up the sand color carpeted stairs and went to go find me room. As soon as I found it, I dropped my bags and fell to my knees. Pain shot up my body, telling me I was awake and not sleeping. My monster did this. It made me come to a place that I didn’t want to go to. Rain pounded on my window and the empty room started to shrink, making me feel like I couldn't breath. All I wanted to do was scream and yelled and cry, but my face remained blank and my heart was breaking. I missed Virginia so much that the pain was
