Often times people find themselves going home after a long day of school or work and relaxing on the couch, turning on the television to our favorite show. In the United States, Americans watch an average of five hours of television a day. In the average hour of television there are around fifteen and a half minutes of commercials and advertisements, which mean an American watches about an hour and a half of commercials everyday (Flint). The Wrigley’s Extra commercial of “The story of Sarah and Juan,” is only two minutes and the commercial is undoubtedly worth taking the time to watch. Sarah and Juan’s story in the commercial, portrays a romantic feature of two young people falling in love. As the romance goes on everyone who watches cannot but help fall in love with the story itself. The commercial has over twenty-one million views, which goes to show that the romance story is seen and loved by many. Pathos are used effectively in various scenes throughout this commercial. One of the times pathos was used most beneficially, was after the scene of Juan writing on the gum wrapper for the first time. This scene gave the audience a look into his love for this girl on only the first date.
