Fathers of aviation
Wilbur and Orville Wright were known as aviation pioneers (“Wright Brothers”). They are both credited with building and flying the first heavier than air aero plane (“Wright Brothers”). In 1903, the succession of the first powered and controlled airplane was completed and later surpassed by the brothers (“The Wright Brothers Timeline of Events-Birth to Living Legacy”). The history of flight changed forever by two young men intrigued by the thought of flying through the air in a controlled air craft. Today, we admire these men as part of the “fathers of aviation” (“Wright Brothers”).

This shop let them get their hands dirty when building things, as well as gave them funds they needed for their later flight experiments (“Bio.com. A&E Networks Television”). Four years later, they also began manufacturing their own brand of bicycles ("The Wright Brothers Timeline of Events-Birth to Living Legacy."). Later on Orville and Wilbur sold their shop and moved to Kitty Hawk to begin their lives in aeronautics ("The Wright Brothers Timeline of Events-Birth to Living Legacy."). In 1903, the brothers made many short flights in their new inventions ("The Wright Brothers Timeline of Events-Birth to Living Legacy."). After accomplishing these flights, they applied for a patent, which was granted in 1906 ("The Wright Brothers Timeline of Events-Birth to Living Legacy."). Wilbur and Orville made many triumphs in flight and finally, in 1908, the brothers won a bid to build the U.S. Military a flying machine ("The Wright Brothers Timeline of Events-Birth to Living Legacy."). The next year, they were awarded a Congressional Award for their contribution to the world of flying ("The Wright Brothers Timeline of Events-Birth to Living
