According to the case study, the services and documentation varied with the different agencies and were not consistent. DSS tried to link the children with specialized services to help ensure the assessments and evaluations were conducive to the needs of the children; yet, the services that were meant to be beneficial failed due to the lack of training, service providers, collaboration and financial resources. Furthermore, La Alianza service providers were not trained to conduct case management or child protective services although DSS had contracted with the organization to provide those services. The program implemented by the Red Hook Justice Center in Brooklyn, NY., was designed to address positive perceptions of crime held by many young people in the apartment houses where these youths lived (Swaner, R., & White, E., 2009). The intent of the program that funded the study was to change behaviors among young people in the Red Hook Houses becoming more social and to change their attitudes toward crime through an effective marketing campaign (Swaner, R., & White, E., 2009). In a pilot study, known as The Hartford Youth Project (HYP), the project was established to engage at risk youth with substance abuse problems and mental health issues. They found that families did not engage in services due to financial barriers, lack of transportation, insufficient availability of treatment appointments and families buy in of the services. Youth Outreach is a non-profitable organization established in 1991 as a crisis intervention centre for children and youths (Youth Outreach, 2015). They provide a wide range of services which serve to help ‘at-risk youth grow into responsible members of our community’. In the past 3 years, Youth Outreach successfully managed to reach out to an average of 2400 young late night street wanderers per year, sending them home and preventing them from possible approaches to join gangs. In addition, they also help youths in attaining healthy interests and basic skills for employment. Instead of the entire Youth Outreach organization, I would like to specifically recommend the Outreaching Services and Social Enterprise to be implemented in Singapore.…
