Wpi Personal Statement

Improved Essays
I believe that I am a perfect fit for WPI because I am a natural born problem solver and leader who desires to change this world for the better. I have excelled in academics, especially mathematics and sciences, because of my curiosity. I seek knowledge wherever I can, and then some. I strive for perfection, which drives me to work until everything is known, solved, and understood. This is based on my belief that knowledge is essential for solving problems. For example, understanding real world applications of the derivative, like surface area, is based on learning calculus theorems. I am now able to solve problems with those background concepts shaping my approach. I learn most effectively with collaboration and hands on projects, such as constructing 3D models of solids of revolution found by similar cross sections to dissecting a pig in a team. I believe that WPI will be the ideal environment for me to continue my education, because it matches my learning style. …show more content…
Along with already being a strength of mine, I know that applying my knowledge to the world’s contemporary challenges will benefit both my career and the well being of others. I am especially excited about the WPI Launch initiative, Global Projects For All. I am aware of the constraints finances have on students and their success, and I am looking forward to taking advantage of this unique opportunity. Coming from a diverse boarding school, I am constantly looking to expand my global perspective, as I know it is essential to enacting significant change. Additionally, I like that WPI encourages on exploring subjects beyond your major, as I am interested in pursuing other fields, such as
