CM normally meets with the client for face to face meeting on Friday. On 4/14/2016, CM met with the client to complete Bi-Weekly ILP Review because client has an appointment scheduled at Wyckoff Wound Clinic. In the meeting client reported she was discharged from Wyckoff Hospital on 4/11/2016, due to her lymphoma and open ulcer wound. She also reported she has follow up medical appointments. During the meeting client had a head wrap around with a beige scarf and knit hat.…
To study and quantify the RPE wound healing in response to an acute or chronic wounding condition, we introduced one electrical treatment every day for ten days and measured the time for cells to regain 10% and 90% of the maximum impedance for each treatment. As illustrated in Fig. 1A, time for cells to reach 10% maximum can indicate the point where cells start to heal the wound; the period for cells to reach 10% and 90% maximum can represent the rate for cells to repair the wound. After the first treatment (an acute condition), bystander cells took average 7.7 hours to reach 10% maximum impedance and another average 12.2 hours to reach 90% maximum impedance. The duration for cells to recover gradually decreased with the daily treatment (Fig.…
Ten seedlings from each family within each block received an inoculation treatment. The inoculation treatments were as follow: (i) wound (control), (ii) wound + media, (iii) wound + media with L. terebrantis, and (iv) wound + media with G. huntii. To perform inoculation, a wound (< 2 mm) was created with a sterile razor blade in the root-collar-area of the seedling 2 cm above the soil line (Figure 2.3). Wound control received a sterile cut only. Wound + media received an agar plug of sterile media in the wound.…
Introduction The infection at the wound site is a severe kind of problem and it delays regeneration of epidermis and dermis in the wound and slows wound closure. Due to the secretion of microbial enzymes by wound pathogens, a variety of extracellular matrix proteins were degraded. Synthetic antimicrobial therapy used in the wound management and eradication of pathogens. However, it has many shortcomings such as anti-microbial resistance, cyto-toxicity against host tissue and absence of synergistic activity. In order to overcome these limitations, Pyto-pharmaceuticals extracted from herbal plants were applied to manage the wound infection and treatment.…
Stakeholders that are directly affected by incompetent wound care education, wound care discharge instructions, and follow-up care include the patient, family members, and caregivers. The patient has increased risk for infection, increase costs of care, increased risk of readmission to the hospital, delayed wound healing, loss of work, stress, and reduced compliance with treatment and loss of trust with health care providers. Families can be overwhelmed and unsure of how to help. They can be stressed at home because due to the lack of mental, physical, and financial support from the patient. Caregivers can be frustrated due to lack of education, delayed wound healing, and receiving stress from the patient.…
It was my first day of training. UCSD Medical Center (or whatever the name is). First stop: Emergency Room. As I walked inside I saw doctors and nurses bustling about. To my left a resident was stitching up a bicyclist who had been in an accident.…

Personal statement- medicine Compassion lies at the heart of medicine. In the midst of the A&E ward, my time in hospital revealed the healthcare team’s professionalism as they worked together efficiently during ward rounds. It left me inspired. Following this, medicine has appealed to me becoming a route to better the health of others. The opportunity to provide care and to use medical knowledge for patient benefit compels me to become a doctor.…
I feel that the preoperative briefing that took place before the patient arrived is what allowed the team to work so well in this emergency case, all of the details that was known about the patient was shared to the entire theatre team, with enough time to be able to prepare and collect all the appropriate equipment that was needed but also equipment that was possibile needed so that all avenues of care was covered and prepared. Bethune (2011) stated that teamwork, communication, and efficiency in the operating theatre is widely recognised to be suboptimal. Poor communication is the single biggest cause of medical error. The surgical operating theatre is a potentially highly stressed environment where poor communication can lead to fatal errors.…
Sara Lin’s education plan related to postoperative incision care must include teaching of infection symptoms and when to notify the practitioner. I will teach the patient how to inspect and care for the wound, as indicated. In addition, I will inform Sara and family members of any activity restrictions, including activities allowed or to be avoided and the duration of the…
Today at Simulation Lab I performed health history on a patient. Firstly, I commenced by preparing myself for the interview. Although I was nervous, as a nurse I had to be confident and prepare myself mentally and kept an open mind to meet the patient. In addition to preparing myself, I prepared the environment, making sure seating and arrangement was in place and the room was comfortable and private. Having done this, I utilized Florence Nightingale’s theory of environmental need.…
My first in hospital clerckship experiance started in Warner Robbins, Georgia. The different cases I saw enlightened me and shed light upon the importance of exposing oneself and allowing yourself to be part of a team of doctors. The things I learnt in the four week period I spent there was patient centered and targeted evidenced based medicine at all times. Although I was fresh out of the basic years of medical school doctors where enthusiastic about teaching me yet challanging the knowledge I already attain and allowed me to have a hallmark transition into clinical based practice. I remember seeing cases I only imagined to be in medical textbooks.…
This short time frame of peace in the hospital finally comes to an end when a 45 year old man is rushed into the hospital with a total of 35 stab wounds. The scene I have just described may have frightened some people, but these are the types of emergencies one must be trained for in order to be called a surgeon. This is where the school work pays off; remember those chemistry tests you crammed for in Medical School? Well, this is where you’ll need them most because it’s a matter of life or death. Being in charge of restoring someone’s health back to normal isn’t an easy task, neither are the steps of becoming a surgeon.…
My first clinical experience was at St. Vincent hospital on a geriatric unit, when I was a second year nursing student. During my time there, nurses often approached me to provide small learning experiences and teach students how to be efficient. When a nurse on the unit asked for help with a bed bath for a patient with whom I was not familiar, I agreed. I wanted to get as much experience as I could. The nurse led me to the patient 's room right away.…
Nursing is a lifelong learning. To grow professionally in nursing I need to reflect and analyse on my clinical experiences. It will help me to improve my professional practice, gain more knowledge and skills, and increase my critical thinking abilities and confidence in dealing with difficult situations. To reflect on what I had learned during my past work experiences I will use Gibbs reflective cycle. It was my first week of work as an Operating Theatre (OT) nurse.…
