Ten seedlings from each family within each block received an inoculation treatment. The inoculation treatments were as follow: (i) wound (control), (ii) wound + media, (iii) wound + media with L. terebrantis, and (iv) wound + media with G. huntii. To perform inoculation, a wound (< 2 mm) was created with a sterile razor blade in the root-collar-area of the seedling 2 cm above the soil line (Figure 2.3). Wound control received a sterile cut only. Wound + media received an agar plug of sterile media in the wound.
